Furnace. Is. Dead.

4:30, DH gets up for work. Freezing cold in my house.
Furnace motor is gone.
Previously he thought it was just the belt (hence the weird noise & smell last week) easy fix when it actually went.
But nope, it's the motor, the whole thing is shot.

Oh NO!
This month has got to get better for you Melissa! (either that or it is almost over now and you can kiss its *&% good bye!)
I don't know where you are at with your efund but this is one of the major reasons to have it. Do you have a dryer yet? I guess the furnace is more important.
Good luck. Chin up!
melissa- hugs to you! i hope you can get it fixed soon and won't be cold for long!
this winter has been so tough on you, keep your chin up, it will get better!

There's only $100 in my efund. Thankfully, I am getting child support today ($300) so that will help...but doesn't really help with the overall budget situation.
The house was built in 98 & I'm assuming it's the original furnace. I think that's young for it to be dead, esp since the one in my rental has been there since 85....But my Mom says I'm sadly mistaken about that concept. Sigh.
DH is calling around trying to get the best deal he can to replace it. Ironically, the wife of one of his good friends facebooked me to let me know that THEY had to replace their motor last week too. So I told DH to call him, & haven't heard from him since.
Hopefully it can get repaired/replaced without killing us.
Unfortunately DH is leaving work early to deal with this - and today is 10 hrs of OT at double time, so that's going to suck pay wise.
And no, I still don't have a dryer.
We were hoping March OT & annual bonus would allow for a purchase of a new gas dryer / or all the materials to do the wiring for the electric one we have.
I was planning a trip to the laundromat this weekend with some of the child support but we'll see about that I guess!
I honestly, seriously, am questioning what else could possibly go wrong. I bet my truck will break down. Or worse, my stove will go and I'll have to cook on the firepit outside ROFL. I'm starting to feel like I'm in the dark ages!

Well $177.91 later, it's fixed. Thank GOD DH is an electrician and can do stuff like this.
Honestly, a lot cheaper than I expected. Can only imagine how much an HVAC company would've charged....
Gotta love facebook, I asked for the best place to buy, and ended up saving us over $100 from the place DH was going to go to!
Warm house. And the force of the air coming out is amazing compared to before - thinking about getting a drying rack to put over some vents, to help with the laundry situation. LOL.
On an amusing note, when asking where I should buy the motor, a friend suggested I take it out of DH's ex's furnace. LOL. At least I always keep my sense of humour, thanks to my friends!

You might want to go on line and enter and do a search using the furnace name and model if
Melissa, I'm so glad that your DH could fix it!
