Where is your thinking spot?

Usually when I am walking I let my mind wander through goals and how to solve problems. Sometimes it is the bath tub. Unfortunately, neither of those places has a calculator near them so I often come up with my ideas there and do the math later.

Yesterday I was thinking about how to make extra money, again. I think about it periodically because it would make things easier. Or would it? I have burnt myself out with working too much before, I don't get to work out so I am grumpy and I see my kids less. I guess I wonder if I could make money online. But, others have tried and failed(i'm not much of a writer like Sarah). I guess if it was easy to make money online others would be doing it too. I have thought about getting another job and just doing the ordering and the books for my store, but then it would have to be a pretty good job to make more than I am now(to justify paying staff) and I would have travel(20 min each was opposed to 5min each way like I do now, yes I know I am spoiled). So I guess I will come back to it and keep my ears open. I think I am in love with an idea to make more money to fund my kids education so I can get on with my other life goals. LOL. Nothing is ever easy is it??

So. Where do you come up with your brilliant ideas on what to do with your money? And when? Does it happen in the middle night? After the kids go to bed? When the bad bills come your way?

Just curious? :)

I usually do my thinking in the bathtub because it's a place where I can be by myself and unlike you: I bring the calculator and a pad of paper in with me and just try to keep it dry!!! I also do my thinking in bed right before I go to sleep. It takes me awhile to fall asleep so I often think things over until I'm tired enough to sleep. I haven't had many brilliant ideas lately though!

Some of my best thoughts come early in the morning, 5:00 A.M., lying in bed or when I'm in the shower minutes later.

My best ideas for money usually occur when I am talking to other people about finances or reading a financial book.

My best thinking happens anytime I am alone. Usually when I'm driving by myself to the store or something and if a really good idea hits me that I need to mull over for a bit longer I'll take the scenic route. DH also works pretty late at night so after the kids go to bed I usually have a few hours of quiet time to figure things out. Usually I just pop in my earphones and listen to music while cleaning or sorting clothes since I can zone out and still keep my hands busy.

I actually have a pretty good lead on a new job that may even pay enough to cover childcare. DH is a mechanic for a large paving company in the area and they are short on flaggers. You know the people that direct traffic during road construction? Anyway, it won't be a glamorous job but it's a paying one so I can't be too picky. So now that is my big thing I'm thinking about right now. I'm just

A little over a year ago, my mind would race when I went to bed.

It usually comes in the early morning hours.

I don't know how to explain it, but its almost like it calms me (now). Now that I have things under control, sinking funds to handle expenditures that come up and my efund on its way, its more of a calming feeling.

Granted this is a new feeling. A few months ago I was lying in bed worrying. But paying off the CC's, and seeing a cognitive therapist about mind and though restructuring has helped me a TON.

If it works for you, that's great.

Nope I didn't get to go to the Olympics. I was going to stay with my gf's family when they were staying with an Aunt. But at the last minute they got Olympic housing so it was going to cost $100 a day. The flight would have been $600 and food, and tickets would have put me over the edge. Sadly, although the games are in Canada, they are in Vancouver and I am in Ottawa. Its a 5 or more hour flight to get there (or a two to three day drive, lol). Why oh why is Canada so big!

But I've been cheering from home with friends. John is curling amazingly well and I've seen my friend and her family in the stands several times.

I will admit I'm jealous. They got tickets to the hockey game last night (Canada v Russia!) That would have been INSANE to see.

Oh well. Another time!
