I have a question that I would like opinions on:
Keeping up appearances: When is it ever essential? Is it ever essential?
My sister and I were back in our hometown which has a reputation for being rich and snobby (note, we are not either . . . well I hope, lol).
We went to the mall on Friday because my sister forgot underwear for the weekend (who does that??) Anyways, in one store alone, I counted 8 pairs of UGGS boots (8 individuals wearing UGGS!!! - to anyone who may not know, these are $170 - $300 boots!) So I kept counting. In the 5 minutes it took up to pay and leave the mall, I counted 17 pairs! AND they were mostly on 15 year olds!
I said something to my sister and she said "welcome home Bex . . . you're not in Ottawa anymore".
The next day I commented about this to my Dad at lunch to which he replied
"You know, if you get this new job, you really need to factor in some new clothes into the budget"
My first instinct was to yell at him for judging people by their clothes, but then I thought about it. Could he be right? Part of this job will be meeting with potential clients and convincing them to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on company services.

Oh Bex, Duke just cracks me up!!

Kate, I'm starting to get nervous. I sent an email to the lady who interviewed me thanking her for taking the time and restating my interest. I put a read receipt request on the email. She works parttime for the next few weeks until she gets back to full time.
Anyways, she sent me an email back at about 10 last night (she isnt' in the office Monday and Friday and it appears was just checking her emails) saying it was nice meeting me as well and they would let me know as soon as they made a decision. For some reason I am getting a bad vibe from that :( Maybe I was just over confident . . . *sigh*
Oh well, nothing to do but hurry up and wait!

Just my .02, altho you've had lost of great advice already!
Currently I run a dayhome and get to wear whatever the heck I want LOL. Not my pjs but let me tell you, I bust out the knees on every pair of pants I have due to the lil rugrats, so most days I'm wearing pants with holes lol!
When I was in accounting and then commercial property management, I had a little technique that worked awesome:
2 pairs of NICE pants, 1 NICE skirt, 2-3 similar NICE jackets that work with all of the bottoms, specifically ones that you can button up. (Cardigans work well also). Then I would go stock up on cheap cami's from stores like Ricki's etc, in different colours. Obviously tasteful ones, and not cotton ones, but the ones that look nice and will last as long as you hang dry them. Super cheap (I've gotten 5 for $15 before!) and it really expands your wardrobe in a pinch. The button up jacket make the top become a background and not a focus, kwim? Then every payday I would go buy a high quality top, until my wardrobe was built up.
And shoes...Duke is right about that one...a couple good pairs of shoes work wonders!
I hope you hear back from them soon!
