For girl's eyes only...

Ok, so tonight my girlfriends are getting together for one of those 'toy' parties. I'm surely not a prudish person but I somehow feel weird talking about this on the DSG board! I have money put aside (from my tax return) and I haven't bought anything fun in a long long time and when life is so stressful, you have to make something fun in your life.

How do you guys feel about these parties? Have you ever been to one? How do you keep your marriage going when there's no money for anything, no dates, no lingerie, no fun!

I have been to a few of these parties before. They are fun. All I can say is stick to your budget. The items can very expensive.

You don't need something from this party to spice up your relationship though Abby. You just need to jump start your imagination. Listen to some stories or ask the other ladies one thing they have done in the past to make things spicy again.

Go to the party, have fun, stick to your budget, but come away with ideas, that will be the most valuable thing you get from it trust me!

I have went to both all girl parties and couples parties. Both are fun. But as PP said they can be expensive so make sure to stick to your budget. You can also get some ideas of things that you can do later without spending a lot and breaking the budget.
Lo/no budget ideas to keep the spark,
1 - Go for a walk in the park or along the beach.
2 - give each other a back rub
3- take a shower together
4 - after the kids are in bed (or farmed out to gramma) have a movie night at home, make popcorn and pretend you are at the theatre.
I'm sure that you can come up with other ideas on your own. ;-)

I've never been to one of these parties but I bet they are fun. I love pretty lingerie but lately there hasn't been the $ for it. If you have the funds available to you then go for it. I'm sure your DH won't be disappointed with whatever you find lol.

That sounds really nice. I like the hiking at the State Park but I find it really hard to get away without kids. We should definitely start planning something that is more of a repetitive thing like once a month or something.

Personally I see no need to spend a dime on any party items and my DH would feel it was a waste and unnecessary.

I've been to a couple of these parties and they're fun. Like the other girls mentioned, the items can be VERY expensive.. so stick to your budget!

My boyfriend and I don't have a whole lot of extra money. We are (sorta) long distance, so most of our extra money goes into our gas tanks to see each other. I have a large bathtub in my master bathroom, so we'll take baths together with candles lining the sides of the tub. We have nice dinners at home. We watch movies at home. We just do small things together that we enjoy.

Have fun!

those parties are fun!!! some stuff is okay reasonable, but you can usually buy it online somewhere cheaper...adam and eve for one.

ANYWAY, one way to spice it up for cheap...if you are into this sort of thing, is to buy halloween costumes on clearance after halloween. nurse, maid, etc, they are fun and can usually be bought for $5.00 or under!!
