Well, I'm doing well, making sure the bills are paid on time, making sure that the money is in the bank, replenishing the emergency fund when it's needed etc.

I feel the same way! I've paid off the credit cards and now I am on some major loan paying! I added it all up and it is overwhelming! I don't see progress. I want it gone! NOW!

However, my goal this year is to find positive things to look at, so, I have made a list (yes pitiful I know) and here are a few good things!

My credit cards are paid off!
I actually have a budget and mostly stick to it!
My bills have been on time for a long stretch now!
My credit score has improved substantially!

It just helps me to step back once in a while and look at what I have and will achieve. Every snowflake, every extra payment, every paid off anything is more that you will eventually have in your pocket and your creditor wont.

It will be a long journey but we all will make it!

Well smarten up and feel better!

Because things are better! You have the bills going out on time, funds funded and a goal/goals. I would be worried if you weren't thinking about the house and car needs. The difference is by the time you need the cash for those things you will have it because you are prioritizing your life and telling your money where to go.

I know I know, you are dreaming about the day when everything is paid and you spend or set goals that YOU want to. That day will come. Keep up the good work and give yourself some more time.

I agree that we all have these thoughts.

I don't know how much debt you have, but I've seen people pay off big debts like 20K in three or four years and wonder how they do it. But just know it can be done if you stick to your plan.

It is a journey, an long and arduous one, if I do say so myself. I just redid some snowball tables for myself because I too was feeling so defeated. I mean I paid off $15k last year, but only about $3k so far this year. Dh is doing much better and paid of at least $5k this year, so we are at $8k total. I also looked at my savings and I have put over $15k in my 401k over the last two years, and have a stock plan, which I have bought $1500 in stock the last 10 months too. So I am making progress when I look at the big picture.

But it has been a tough year with DD graduating and teens. If you folks with babies think daycare is expensive, just wait for teen drivers. Our insurance is up over $100 a month with both of them driving, the car needs at least $100 a month in gas, sports cost over $100 in player fees, I just paid $189 for a lacrosse uniform fee and $125 for new softball gear. College admissions fees, then AP testing, all night parties, - try $600 in the last month, and we are not even at prom yet! On top of it all DS jammed my car from 50 MPH into 1st gear - smoked the clutch out Friday night- $1200 minimum repair!!!
Anyone want to buy two teenagers? I am thinking of putting them up on Craig's list - but probably need to resort to Freecycle and do the delivery myself! LOL

PS Yes they have been told they must get JOBS when school ends in June, as allowances, gas money and spending money is cut off.
