When I checked my checking account tonight someone made a withdrawal of $150.00 and it was some catering company and it shows out of Pennsylvania.

They should be able to take it off of your account without charging you anything. We once had a false charge on our account. My husband had lost his debit card and someone found it and used it at a gas station for $75 dollars worth of gas. Because of that, we bounced a few checks and they returned us the money and the overdraft fees. Hopefully your bank is the same way. Very weird though!

2 years ago we had an unauthorized debit for $1700 from Avis rental car. We're still disputing it. The bank said that because DH admited that he had rented a car from the location that stole our money a few weeks prior to the incident then they didn't believe the second charges were unauthorized. I'm not sying this will happen to you. Ours was a different situation. Apparently if you've done bisuness with the company that steals from you then it's your own darn fault for doing business with them in the first place.

My best advice is to keep a very detailed record of everything you do during the dispute. I hope you get everything worked out quickly!

good morning- hope you got some sleep last night. sorry that this is happening to you. it seems that no matter what we do to keep our information safe, there is something that can still happen.

make sure you follow up with the bank this morning. if you didn't authorize the charge they should credit the money back to your acct. it might take a couple of days. i agree with the pp, keep good records during the dispute. print your emails to them, note your attempts to figure out what the company is that made the charge, and keep a record of who you talk to at the bank (get their name and their id number- usually they have one). hopefully it won't be a problem. there won't be any fees for that, since fraud protection is something they take very seriously. i would also ask them if they can tell how the charge was made (did they use your debit card? a check?) and have the bank replace it. if they used your debit card ask the bank to issue you a new one with a new number, and disable the old one.

we had a situation where we ordered something online that never showed up. after a couple of weeks of trying to get the company to credit the amt back to the acct once they admitted they were not going to fill the order, i called the bank and told them what was going on. they credited my acct within 2 days and then went after the company directly for the money. they handled it all very well. i hope that is the case you for, too.

good luck!

I've never had money go missing from a bank account, but I've had charges on my credit card that I didn't make.

Stay on top of the situation, but the bank should investigate the charge and refund your money.

First, thank goodness they are reimbursing you the money.

Do you think that the company that the money was sent to was even a catering company?

I gotta tell you, if I had to revert back to cheques, it would be really problematic.
