april was good. i didn't quite make my goal of $750 in flakes, but i was only $100 short. we did go over our budget and i reworked some of the problem areas to be a little more realistic as we go into summer. looking at my april goals i totally lost at getting anything out of my basement that is full of boxes we haven't looked in since we moved here... sad that i didn't make any progress on that one. i did fully fund the shed so we are moving forward with that this coming week, buying the materials this weekend and building through next weekend.
so my may goals are:
1. flake $1000 or more.
2. continue to track budget.
3. work on basement clean up an hour a week. i swear i am going to do this.
hope you are all ready for a kick-butt may! i can't wait to see what your goals are!

April 2010 goals.
***April looks like it could be spendy with my curling and golf aspirations. I have to start looking into camps for kids as well.
All the camps are booked and deposits paid. I still have the rest of the fees to pay but I have the money. I will pay those when they are due in June and July. I did buy used clubs not new ones like I planned and I have used them and like them. I have put off curling purchases until the fall as there was no sale to take advantage of. My girlfriend gave me a used golf glove so I don't have to purchase that!
***Keep on track with debt reduction and try not to beat myself up if the child education ticker does not move.
Oh it moved! Yeah me!
***I have scheduled myself to work a bit more so hopefully the store credit line does not need to be rescued. That would really suck!
The store credit line is fine right now. We will see what May brings.
MAY 2009 GOALS:
***Just keep saving.
***Try to be reasonable about store budgeting and ordering
***research a washer and dryer and tires for the truck(to purchase with tax refund if we get one)
I accomplished all of my April goals with the exception of being disciplined about making DH and I's lunches, and only eating out once a week.
In April, we took out a loan and paid off all of our credit cards.
I didn't make any April goals which was a good thing because I probably would not have kept them. April started out with the best of intentions but went down hill fast. Blame DHs cow purchases. I still don't know how we're coming up with all this money to pay for the darn things. Oh wait, we're not. DH tells me we need something and I somehow have to carve the money out of the budget to make it happen. Today we spent $65 on meds for one because it has pnuemonia (can you tell I'm a bit bitter about this situation?)
For May I just want to survive lol!
ODS turns 5 at the end of the month and middle DS turns 4 at the beginning of June so they will be getting a double party. The actual party will probably not be until June but the planning has to happen this month.
Goal #1 keep party related spending to less than $150
This month we did really well on eating out. I'm actually shocked at how little we ate out actually! This month I want to keep up the good work
Goal #2 Only one fast food meal a week.
I think I will also set some non financial goals as well. Now that the weather is getting nicer I have no excuses for not taking walks in the evening or trying to get a little me time.
Goal #3 Make exercising a bigger priority.
Goal #4 do one non kid/household/animal/DH related activity once a week.
I'm not joking when I say this is the most ambitious I will be able to get this month. #4 will be the hardest of all. Even as I was writing that I'm wondering where in the world I'm going to find time for something like that! Well, it has been written. Time to make it happen! I hope everyone has a productive May!
I looked back at April and I've meet most of the goals.

I did NOT meet my savings goals. I think I need to put those on hold until we take care of the hospital bills for the baby. I don't know what they'll total yet (DH's work is changing insurance as of May 1 and they won't tell us ANYTHING) but obviously I want to get rid of those extra debts first! They went by the wayside this month b/c I had to pay almost $500 in taxes for my mom, plus had a few other misc items to pay for.
I did meet one April goal, and that was to get my debt under 59k. It's currently at $58,900 and but it's technically lower - I still haven't updated two principal totals after making payments in April.
I wanted flakes at $750 or higher, and they totaled $420. I will call that a success as well, however, b/c we are paying another $400 flake on top of that today, but I don't count this particular flake until it clears the bank so it will go for May. I guess that's a gray area, LOL, but at any rate, when I wanted to hit $750 I had that flake in mind. It'll just count next week instead - the bottom line is that it'll come off my debt!
So, savings goals aside for now, I'll just focus on my debt and flake goals for May.
Debt goal for May: under $57,500
Flake goal for May: more than $750
Other: Prepay as much of my hospital expense total as possible, whatever it is. LOL. (I should know within a week or so).
FLINGING DEBT:
We keep all grain and dog food in aluminum trash cans in the garage, away from the barn.
