It has been some week! We had to replace free washer #3 today. We bought a (cheap but nice) new one ... with cash. Didn't even hurt, LOL! We've done pretty well with the freebies but after the last one died yesterday full of clothes AND full of water, I'd pretty much had it. We got the cheapest one in the store and I love it.
Meanwhile, if you've followed along with my insurance saga, we've got a rough estimate of 3k total and I suspect it'll go much higher because, while there is an out of pocket max with the new insurance company, we won't hit it with the old one. Instead of one maternity global copay of $450, I have to pay $40 for EVERY visit, EVERY u/s, EVERY NST, plus a % of EVERY lab. UGH! BUT ... no biggie. It sucks, but I'm not so special that crud doesn't happen to me, too. The important thing is that the baby looks great, she's really darn close to not being a preemie, and that for once we can afford this. If we'd been hit with these medical bills last year, it would have KILLED us. This year it's just a roll of the eyes, a shrug of the shoulders, and a big fat "that's life!" LOL.
In light of the new washer I knew yesterday we'd need to buy today (oh, DH dragged the old one out, "fixed" it, and is using it in the shop for greasy stuff - YAY!) and the insurance totals I FINALLY got yesterday I was shocked to hear that my blood pressure was great today. I've never had high blood pressure, but this was totally low, totally zen. (I'm SO not zen, LOL). But ... BUT ...
Then my doctor takes pity on me (insert long medical history here) and pretty much moves my induction to Wednesday, and that's IF I get through this Friday. (Insert high blood pressure here, LOL). I'm already dilated and a "victim" of five successful inductions already so I'm just gonna count down the days and talk myself out of the epidural since the anesthesiologist wasn't included in the estimate from the hospital, LOL!
And to answer the usual questions, I am NOT having another tubal and no, clearly I do NOT know how "this happens." Since having my tubes tied didn't work, I'm just gonna consider myself EXTRA blessed and enjoy this precious baby girl twice as much!

Sarah:
I've been thinking about you. You are just amazing. I have no idea how you keep it all together. I only have 2 kids and it gets overwhelming!
Let us know when you're back at the computer, babe in arms :).

Congrads Sarah.
This baby will truly be special and makes me wish I had more than one (well 1.5 as DS is a step.) Glad you are doing so well and are so healthy. It could be the lack of stress.
Just one thing to think about: Usually doctors and hospitals will work with you on payments and NOT charge interest. Why not stretch these medical bills out a bit more if you can do so interest free, and pay down something at higher interest?
I know you juggle a lot of bills, I honestly have tried and gave up figuring out your priority system, but know you do it really well, so no need for me to go there with other things I have to do.
Another thing to go is send a formal letter to your DH's employer showing the costs out of pocket prior to the insurance change, and the new cost after the insurance change, backed with evidence from the hospital, and see if they would be wiling to pony up some assistance. You can try, they can always say no, but at least you put it out there in a very professional manner.
Just my $.02 - you are doing great.
Hey are the kids still home schooled, as I want to send mine overseas right now! One has senioritis, the other is just in la la land so much he doesn't have "time" to take out the trash (BUT I DO???)

Hey girl, keep that zen theme going, because when it all comes down to it, there's not a thing you can do about the insurance deal.

I follow your blog too. Love it.
So sorry to hear about the insurance woes! Not fair at all!
I am wishing you luck with baby. I hope you are both fine in a week and can be more comfortable!
Cheers
