just looking for some advice...

i just got married last month so iv'e inherited a lot more debt then i had on my own. our credit card bills together add up to about $8,000. i am proud to say that i have excellent credit (score of 780) and therefore have had access to anything i've applied for, but he doesn't have great credit. i found a card that would let me transfer my balances to a new card at 0% for a year and a half, but they won't let me put all $8,000. i don't understand because my discover card has a $10,000 limit and heck, even my express (clothing store) card has $5,000. what should i do about paying this debt.

Transfer as much as you can afford to and pay off in a year and a half then snowball what you would have paid on that amount to the card with interest so it will be paid off sooner.

8,000 should be paid off in no time at all that way.

If you haven't already, you could ask about an increase in credit limit but my guess is, since your score is so high, they're simply limiting how much they are willing to extend that rate on.
