Diane - We have a no euthanize policy at our Animal Shelter here in SF. That's where we got our precious TJ - he was a rescue, found filthy and starving in a dumpster. No one believes he was a rescue
I know New Castle or I did. I know at least where it is now. The university I went to years ago was --oh--10 minutes from there.
My Daughters art work is all over my house. Most people have to spend lots of money on art for their home. Come to think of it I probably had to spend more than most--raising a kid isn't cheap! (LOL) She is finishing her 2nd year at Indiana University, (not where I went to school)its about 100 miles from here.
I have been care fully avoiding doing a mountain of laundry today. I really should go do it.
It is called a "personal icon". They can be added/changed/deleted through the member profile that you get to by clicking on a member name. You can also add a photo through there too.
Hi Sue, nice to see you over here! We've "known" each other for awhile and I think that most of my info is down in the roll call (in the Just for Fun section I think) so probably not a lot to tell you here...except that my name is Elspeth. I remain anonymous on all of the other boards. I probably know these ladies (and they know about me) more in about 15 months than I know/have revealed in 5 or more years at other boards. (The only exception is my co-cl calmama who I have met in person.)
As I'm sure you have already noticed, this board is very friendly and fun and we talk about all kinds of things, even about our kids sometimes!! Glad you found us!
Diane - I'm glad you enjoyed San Francisco and I agree that the one trip I have ever made down the coast to Los Angeles really was gorgeous. However, I lived in LA briefly back in the 70's and we always used the Central Valley interstate to flit up and back from here to LA - dry, hot and dull as dishwater. I visited England once when I was 19 - the visit was limited to Canterbury and London, as well as side trips to Stratford, Hampton Court and Windsor Castle.
Hi, Shirley - yes, I do believe we "met" on the Empty Nest board because I do remember you asking about Siobhan's name. I left that board quite some time ago - yep, time constraints. I just love Bolinas - back in the 70's I spent a lot of time out there because friends of mine then had a house up on the bluff overlooking Stinson Beach. I have to confess that even though I have lived here all my life (Northern California and for the last almost thirty years here in SF), I have never been to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. I've heard that it is magnificent - maybe one of these days. Now that DH and I have an empty nest, we probably should think about some "week-end-get-aways", but there always seems so much to do on week-ends that keeps us close to home.

Elspeth - good to find you here. This seems like a fun board and I thought I'd better make the switch while I still qualified as a "fiftyish" - LOL!
