Hi all! I'm new here, I'm hoping that I can ask your advice on how to go about this.

Here is a summary of what's been going on with my youngest...

My almost 4 yr. old dd has been dropping off the weight charts since 9 mos. old. She is only 26 1/2 lbs. & has quite a few symptoms of Celiac.

*tooth enamel loss

*unexplained anemia

*diarrhea/loose stools

*distended belly

*failure to thrive/low weight/not gaining

Among others...

We had her tested for Celiac in '08 & was neg. We had her retested recently & her ped said that the tests came back fine except for the IGG gliadin was high. But then she said she was fine, not Celiac.

So, of course, I came home & looked it up & find out that if that test was high than she has Celiac.

Now I'm confused. We have HMO & seriously, this ped drives me insane.

Does anyone know anything about this? Would you consider going gluten free? Should we get a specialist involved (if she'll give us a referral)? Any ideas?

Thanks!!!

Jenn :)

Hi welcome.oh boy this happens quite often.it is very frustrating i know..if this was me,i'd go to another dr .or ask this one for a referal,as you are not satified..

i congratulate you for research on this matter..and so yes do this

yes you are right, lots of times it can take up to 3 test before its confirmed..you need a specialist on the job...if they do a biopsy they will see if the bowel is damaged and if the villi are ,then most probably she is celiac..

you can also see dr fines lab....he has online site..i posted about him here before if i can find i will repost for you..

she needs help now,i have had this many times for clients who come to me for their diets, after eventually being diagnosed..

if all else fails then yes i would start thr gluten free diet..i dont normally suggest this but,her health is important...to get a test done successfully you must still be eating gluten to have test done..i'll go see if i can locate dr fine dr kenneth fine for you now..be back shortly..

cheers Lynne
