When did you guys first see your OB?

I'm seeing a lot of folks that have been to their doc fairly early. I'm with a new practice this pregnancy so even I was surprised when they didn't even want to see me to confirm the pregnancy (they go by my word that I got a positive on the hpt) but I have found it pretty typical that you don't actually have an appointment with a doc until 8/9 weeks.

I do see a lot of people though that are having their first prenatal appt. considerably earlier. Is this typical of the practice that you go to? Or did they mention that they are bringing you in a little earlier because of being over 40?

Just wondering. Thanks!!!

Since I did IVF, I am being monitored even from the very early stages with blood tests. Around 6-7 weeks, I will go for a first sonogram at my RE's office. The RE is monitoring the pregnancy right now, not an ob/gyn.

I did call my ob/gyn and inform them I am pregnant, they demanded I come in for a pap smear since the last one I had was a year ago. I don't believe in invasive procedures during early pregnancy, and told them so. They also kept demanding to konw (during my previous appts) if I was "using my own eggs or donor eggs" for the IVF. This is simply none of their gd business! So I will be actively searching for a new ob/gyn. I'd really prefer a man at this point instead of a female doctor.

Just out of curiosity, did they give you a reason why it was so imperative that they know whether it was your eggs vs. donor eggs?

I found out I was pregnant on 11/5 and saw the ob/gyn on 11/27, there were some mix ups because I was trying to get into a perinatologist (what my family dr recommended) which was a nightmare, so I wasted

I saw my Dr. at 6 weeks even though they had me come in earlier (@ 4 week) for blood tests.

I watched every second of it just to make sure he didnt go anywhere near my baby with that big needle of his! I was alone, so had to be brave. In fact, the needle is very thin and it just stings a wee bit. I am VERY squeamish about needles, and didnt find the amnio too traumatic. And that is despite the fact that when you actually look at the screen, everything looks huge because it is magnified.

How I wish it was all over, though!
