Most antidepressants are contraindicated during pregnancy, and there are some studies on SSRI's (Lexapro's family) that suggest potential harm to the unborn children, and also to the mother (specially during the third trimester, they can cause withdrawal symptoms, stiffness, seizures and other nasties). All that said, you need to talk to your doctor before you get off it, most of this medications have to be gradually tapered off and your doctor will have to monitor your symptoms and prescribe something else if you need to - so don't do anything without talking to your doctor, please. You can find some of the information on the drug insert that the pharmacy gives you, and you can also check some reliable sites such as WebMD.

Good luck!

HI and congrats on being pregnant!!!!!

I would call your doctor, let him know right away, you are pregnant. Personally I wouldnt take anything unless my doctor said it would be ok while pregnant.

http://www.healthyplace.com/Lexapro/faqs_6.asp

the site above talks about taking it while pregnant and says that no real studies have been done with this drug, it could be old info. But I would rather be safe then sorry....

Good luck and welcome to the board

Hi, I stayed on Celexa for my third pregnancy and the baby is now a happy, healthy five-year-old.
