Hi,

It's totally normal to be scared/nervous, so I won't tell you not to be.

I know that an amnio is a scary proposition, but it's really not as bad as you think that it will be. I had mine done in June of this year and was really dreading the procedure.
The good thing about it is you get to see the baby via ultrasound before the procedure, which always helps to put my mind at ease.

I did take my husband with me for moral support, but I didn't find the procedure painful, just uncomfortable for a couple of minutes. You will feel quite a bit of pressure, but after the initial needle stick, no pain.

You'll do fine and it's worth the peace of mind in the end!

Good luck.

Hi:

Don't stress about the amnio procedure. It really seems more scary than it actually is! I had mine done a month ago now. I, too, was extremely nervous but it was over in like 6 or 7 minutes and that includes the prep time on your tummy! I had my DH with me and I held his hand and squeezed it and looked at him while the procedure was done. I think the actual needle was in no more than 2 minutes tops. I didn't watch the screen at all and that seemed to work best for me. Just try to relax and all will go fine. Just remember to rest a lot afterwards and by Sun./Mon. you will be good to go again!

Best of luck to you!
