Scared

I started spotting tonight and now I am really scared. My emotions have been all over the map lately, and I have been quite concerned about the baby, for no real reason. Until now. I had been lying down for a quick rest (well, not very restful with 2 little ones crawling all over me) and when I went to the bathroom afterwards I saw several drops of blood on my liner. (I have been on progesterone so it is a goopy mess without them.) There was still some on the tp, but nothing since. I have lost 5 babies before this, but none this far along, but I am still really scared. I finally have an appointment tomorrow with a specialist to help with my blood sugars which are not high enough to be classified as diabetic, but have been higher than normal since I had GD with my last baby. I am hoping that either he will be able to try to listen for a heartbeat or maybe my doctor can fit me in on the way, since I have to stop and pick up the referral letter anyway. If it gets worse, I might just go in tonight. I may have to take my DS in anyway, I think he has tonsillitis again, but I would want to take him to a different hospital than the one I would need to go to, so now I don't know what to do. (We live half way between the two, about 45 minutes either way) Maybe at the smaller hospital they could check me too, but it isn't where my ob is at, so that is why I don't know what to do. Sorry this got so long, guess I am just thinking it all through while I type.

Michelle,

Sending good thoughts your way and gentle hugs of support. I know how scary this can be. Are you in any pain at all or having cramps? If not then this is a good sign. Like the other poster mentioned, this could just be a low lying placenta. Please if you are feeling scared, then go to the hospital (I agree that it should be the one where your doc is at). At least then you will know what is going on. Please let us know how you are doing. I will keep you in my thoughts...

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing, at least if it gets worse. So far there has only been some residual from the initial bleed. I guess there is always the possibility that I nicked something when I put the progesterone in, but that is the only explanation besides placental issues. I had a subchorionic hemorrhage with my last baby, but never bled a drop, we only knew because the doctor had problems finding the heartbeat and sent me for an u/s. Right now I am going to just wait and see. I am supposed to be going away for the weekend, so hopefully things stay settled down.

Thanks Dawn. I am not having any pain or cramps, but I wouldn't really expect to. I don't get them during my period, and I do most of my labour "silently", so if I were miscarrying I wouldn't expect it any different now. Try explaining that to a doctor though, they rarely listen to that part. I am not sure what my ob would say to that, I have only met her once. I was supposed to be heading out tomorrow for the weekend, so if things get worse when I am gone, then I will end up having to go in to a different hospital. I end up with a dilemma there too, of whether to go to the one with at least a 4 hour wait but where I delivered my other children, or the smaller one with a much shorter wait! And I may end up having the kids with me, since DH isn't coming down with me this time. I will just hope and pray that things are okay and no more spotting.

More bleeding this morning. I guess I will be calling the ob to see what she says.

Hi Michelle,

My heart goes out to you and my thoughts are with you this morning. I did have some bleeding at this time with my son. It was after sex and they said that the cervix can sometimes get engorged with blood. Perhaps it was the suppository that did it if the bleeding started after you inserted it. Please let us know how it goes when you see your doctor.

I suppose it could be from the suppository, but I really don't think so. Especially the gush this morning. I think it is a little more serious than that, but I am still hoping for the best. I have an appointment at 1:00, I guess I will find out then.
