ive got 5 weeks to go,yipeee !!!!! and this is my last pregnancy,.... without a shadow of a doubt ! was thinking about getting my tubes tied when i have my c section on march 9th.but ive been talking around and not hearing good reports.like;very heavy/painful menstral cycles or just pain in general and pain with intercourse.my dh and i have been together for 6 yrs and have never used birth control, (only the pull out method) obviously sucessfully.as we tried for this one.so,.. im wondering now if i want to even get this done?

This is my last pregnancy and I am definitely getting my tubes tied during my c-section, especially after all the late-pregnancy complications I have been having.

I had my tubes tied back in mid October, after having my 5th baby in May. I am 45. I found the procedure to be no big deal at all. The only thing that happend to me was it seemed to start my period back up again. I am breastfeeding and hadn't had a period until a month after the procedure. Not sure if that is what started it..but seems like it...LOL

I was thinking of it as this will be my last pregnancy.

I was hesititant about having it done because of what I heard as well, but I did on 10/28/08 with my 4th and last pregnancy. I haven't had any problems thus far.

I got my tubes tied when I was 31 after having my 3 girls. I was done, no question about it. However, my then husband decided to trade me in for the the Gas N Shop girl, I remarried 3 years later, and lo and behold, new DH would like some kids! Which brings me to our son number 2 due in April.

As far as the surgery itself, I didn't notice any major change in my cycles or flow. My only advice is to make sure that you're completely sure that this is your last because it is hard to reverse and IVF is expensive! And posting here, I don't doubt that you are sincere - this is my LAST too. Done, finito, no more, no matter what. I had my family practitioner refer me to an OB when I was ready. The only major obstacle was that there were only Catholic hospitals in my area, so I had to travel to another facility to get the procedure done. Funny part was that when I attempted a reversal, the local had no problem with that!

Good luck with your decision!
