Had my amnio yesteday!

Hi everyone-
After all my nervousness and anxiety about the actual procedure, I had my amnio yesterday and it was virtually painless. The initial needle prick I didnt feel, but I did feel it pierce my uterus, which was a little uncomfortable. The doctor took extra fluid because I opted for the rapid turnaround testing (FISH), so it seemed like the needle was in for a long time. I just kept my eyes closed while my fiance held my hand (I know I sound like a baby), and before I knew it it was over.
Now the hard part is waiting for the results. I should know by Monday at the latest. The specialist wants to see me in a month because he saw a pocket of blood around the placenta that he wants to check up on, but that he wasnt too concerned about. Also, he wasnt able to see the heart real well, mostly because the baby is still so small. (Im 16 weeks)
So if anyone is nervous about this procedure being painful, dont be. Im one of the biggest wimpst in the world and i handled it!

Natalie,

I'm glad it went well, and you'll know something soon. I am sure this will make the rest of your pregnancy much better.

I hope your morning sickness has gotten a little better. I'm sure you're ready for that to be over.

No I had no pain at the site at all, tho I did feel nauseous at night and threw up---gross. I didnt see the screen on the wall because the doc had already spent a good 20 minutes doing the scan beforehand and I just wanted to close my eyes for the procedure.
They tried to determine the sex but the doc said he could only say it "looked" like a girl-80% accurate, but that he likes to be 90% or more. Im going back in a month to follow up.
