I think you are talking about the AFP blood test. I have a beautiful healthy 22 month old that I had a 43. I refused this test when I was pregnant with him because it has a Very High rate of false positives!! Remember it's a screening not an absolute result test.I have a friend who just had a healthy baby boy and she was told her baby would likely have downs syndrome and they wanted her to do an amnio. She refused and he is fine. I hope this helps.
If your NT measurements were good, there's a strong probability that your baby is just fine.
You should most definitely have hope of having a healthy child. The N/T screening is just that - a screening, and not definitive. If there weren't any major soft markers on the u/s, that's an even better sign. I have read of SO many women with sketchy N/T results who've gone on to have a CVS or amnio that was perfect.
Please keep us posted.
My sister's friend was told her baby would be born with DS. Termination was out of the question for her and her husband, so they just prepared to love the child--no matter how he or she was born.
Well, that baby was born perfectly healthy and is at the top of his class now.
Unless you get something like amnio, I wouldn't believe all the tests that are based on "probability."
Thank you all for your kind words of encouragement.
So sorry to hear your news.
