me on limited physical restrictions.last week actually for the past month or so i had been having braxton hicks contractions.no pain, just a tightening of the uterus ,when i over did it painting ect... i would have them every 10 minutes.but usually towards the end of the day.to be expected i guess as i am very active.but this past friday i started having them at 10 am.and all through the day so i called drs office and went to labor and delivery and they put me on the machine,dr came and examined me,and said that it wasnt braxton hicks but premature labor contractions.she also said my uterus was low and soft for only 6 1/2 mos.they gave me several shots and sent me home with a medication that i hate! to take every 4 hrs !!! to stop contractions.and no more massages (im a massage therapist) im soooo bumbed . guess im not a good patient because i snuck and did 1 apt mon and 1 apt tues,(trying to wrap things up) without dh knowing and im not taking the medecation. i feel like i just need to take it easy and the medication makes my heart race and gives me the shakes. uhhhhhhh.

so, i suppose im doomed for 2 months!! aside from reading (twilight of coarse!) edward takes my mind off of things wonderfully ! what am i going to do with myself till i pick my dd up at 3;30 every day? ill have the nursery to work on soon but im sure that wont take longer than a week! help!!!

Thankfully I never had to be on bedrest, but please don't take his recommendations lightly.

Do not take the dr.'s orders lightly at all! If you don't do what you are supposed to then he will end up putting you in the hospital and I am sure you don't want that. I have been on bedrest for 5 weeks now in the hospital (not due to anything I did but due to no fluid around the baby) and trust me I would rather be able to be on strict bedrest at home then stuck at the hospital on bedrest.

Get everything you need and put beside either the couch or bed where you plan to rest and just change what you are doing throughout the day. I watch TV, I read a book, I work online for a while, I talk on the phone and my day actually goes by pretty quickly. You will just have to find things to entertain you so that you will stay on bedrest.

And just so you know, the medication that you gave causes those kinds of side effects. It is meant to stop the contractions and you really should take them and just lie down and rest and drink plenty of fluids. It is unfortunate that it does make your heart race and makes you feel shaky but just try not to focus on that and focus on stopping the contractions so that you don't deliver the baby early.

Take care and kup!

Please try and take it easy! I was on bedrest for a whole 5 days and thought I would go nuts (I even snuck back to exercise class before I had dr's ok because I was so miserable)

Hi,

I know how you must feel, especially when you are used to being active and productive.
