I expect to have to do weekly non stress tests as well as weekly ultrasounds and weekly doctor's visits beginning sometime around 32 weeks (I'm 28 weeks now). I did this with each of my two girls, too. Has your doc mentioned anything about wanting to keep a close eye on your baby's activity or anything? Are you suffering from any pregnancy complication or other medical condition that may cause concern for the doc? I agree that if there is absolutely no high risk factor other than your age that all these visits seem a bit much. Maybe come right out and ask him why all these appointments are necessary. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all this added stress so late in your pregnancy -- I know how stressful late pregnancy is in and of itself. Please let us know if you learn anything new. Best wishes to you, be well, and hang in there. : )
I agree with the other posters that 2X a week, plus a visit to the high risk specialist does sound excessive.
On the other hand, I had a similar experience with my first baby. She just was kind of "lazy" if you will :) and wasn't doing well in there...I also had a low amnio fluid level. (No abnormal risks for anything and I was 34 at the time.) I think I only went 1x a week, but maybe it was twice...it was 5 1/2 years ago.
At 36 weeks she just wasn't doing much to show she was doing better in than out so a c-section (she was breech) was scheduled for 38.5 weeks.
Funny thing...today, at age 5, she is my total laid-back child. She's slower than a slug on a rug and just takes her good ole time doing what she wants. She loves ballet and recently begged to sign up for soccer...oh my! I don't think she really understands what she's in for...she barely rides her bike. Thank goodness she's not an eater, or I might have a chunky kid on my hands. Instead she's a skinny minnie, but just marches to her own beat! LOL
i have a lot of other risk factors and only have to have nst's once a week.
