How long before period came back?

Rachelle addressed this issue a short time ago in a different section. However, this question has been preoccupying me ever since and I wondered what the experince of you new mothers has been. How long did it take for your periods to come back, were they the same as before and do they continue to be as regular or are they all over the place. Has anybody experienced no more periods at all? Have many of you had your periods back even when breast-feeding?

I bf my first for 2 years and had no periods for all of that time. As soon as I stopped bf I fell pregnant. I therefore assumed that if I bf my second for 2 years and then stop, I have a pretty good chance of getting pregnant again, if we decide to go down that road. Or am I nuts to think that at age 46 it will happen like that?

Does anyone have any tips for persuading periods to start again while bf (without resorting to drugs)?

I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts and experiences on this

I breastfed all of mine, well until the last one but I pumped.

I wouldnt give uo hope if I were you, you have a pretty good record!

When did you stop bf with your babies? When the next baby came along, or sooner?

I am wondering if I HAVE to stop bf to get AF back. I'm reluctant to do thid before 2 years unless DS stops of his own accord...

That's interesting, Joan. So you only actually fell pregnant once you had weaned, which suggests you may not have been ovulating even though you had AF back...

Just curious, though, and I hope this isnt TMI, but didnt you find BD difficult while still bf?

Torielle - I started a discussion a few weeks ago about this very subject on the other Board I frequent.

Thanks Joan for all of that information. It's pretty clear to me from what you sent that I have at the most a 1% chance of falling pregnant because of the way I bf - and that's before taking account of age factors!!

As someone said to me the other day, I should simply concentrate on being happy with what I have...

Well it's not impossible; I know of people who have become pregnant while BF so you just never know.....
