This Q is for moms over 40 breastfeeding...did you have extended "bleeding" or spotting durring your postpartum period despite breastfeeding? I am almost 6 weeks and am still either brown or pink spotting daily. My midwife told me my hormones levels are probably not high enough due to my

HI,

I have an 11 month old and I am 45. After his birth I spotted for 5 weeks ..almost 6. I exclusively breastfed. I did get my 1st period after having my tubes tied in October. Exactly 28 days later I got my period...ughh. My periods now are very heavy for 2 days and then not much of anything for a few more days. HOpe that helps. I would not worry about spotting for such a long time...but I agree...see your doctor if it continues much longer.

I never noticed a change like that, but I don't think it is unusual. I know several women who bled for quite awhile after birth, and it didn't seem to matter how old they were or if they were breastfeeding or not. I am surprised about the hormone comment, not sure I really understand what she means by that. I wouldn't worry, but I agree that if it doesn't settle down soon it wouldn't hurt to get checked out.

Hi Amy,

So nice to see you on here. I haven't had much time (I'm sure the same is for you.)

Anyway, I had Graydon just before you and I've just stopped bleeding and now I just have a slight yellow discharge. They told me that it was normal for bleeding and cramping up to 8 weeks.

Have you been to the breastfeeding board? I go there once in a while too. Hope you are getting some rest.

Heidi.

Hello and congratulations!

After both my babies (both born in my 40s) I bled for a couple of weeks, which I was told was on the short side,
