Hi Carrie!
I remember you from the summer. I still lurk occasionally and wanted to congratulate you on your pregnancy. I too had vanishing twin with my pregnancy. I started bleeding shortly after I found out I was pregnant, and we saw the second sac that was not developing. To make a very long story short, I was on bedrest until I stopped bleeding (13 weeks) because the two sacs were so close together and they were afraid if the "non-thriving" sac detached, the healthy one would go with it. (I had lost twins in my previous pregnancy at 7 and 12 weeks). Anyway, by my 18 week ultrasound, the second sac had been absorbed by the baby, and was no longer visable. My healthy baby girl was born the day before her due date weighing 7lbs, 13oz! When they say the baby may be smaller, I wouldn't worry too much. She was about a pound smaller than my sons were, but still a great size! She is absolutely perfect and such a joy! In fact, my husband mentioned the other day that he has yet to see her actually shed a tear and she's 11 weeks old! I often tell people that she gave me such a hard time in utero that she's making up for it now!! I do often think about her twin, and wonder what things would have been like, but am so thankful for my beautiful, healthy baby! Good luck and I look forward to reading your successful birth story at the end of July!
Take care,
Annie
