After 2 m/c's and countless fertility intervention I now have solid proof that I am pregnant! Man, it's been a long 6 weeks. Luckily we got confirmation that there is only one baby in there, so I am relieved. The baby is measuring on target and is in the right place. We got to see the heartbeat, which was pretty cool. It was a super quick appt, so not much more to say other than all is well. I got released to my regular doctor, but she's away until next week, so I won't have my first 'real' appt for another week or two still.
In the meantime I am trying to force feed myself to put back some of the weight I've lost (around 5lbs). I'm not feeling too great but hanging in there. Plain food is getting boring but I'm not quite at the stage where I can eat anything fun. I'm also feeling unbelievably hormonal. My poor DF got the wrong end of the stick yesterday for no reason. What a mess I am these days...shouldn't I be glowing or something?!
Kristi

Hey Kristi - Congratulations!! What a long road you have travelled to get to that sono room with the great beating heart!! Many sticky baby vibes! For your sake, I'm glad you are feeling crappy too ... it's a good sign. The glowing happens in the middle. Definitely not at the beginning or the end!
Good luck!
Sue
PS, When is your due date? I think I'm just a few days behind you ... 8/19.
Thanks Sue! My due date (tbc) is August 13th, so yes, we're pretty close. I was hoping the glowing bit would be more than just the middle, but I suppose that would be asking too much, huh.
Take care,
Kristi
Kristi-
Congrats!
Kristi,
Great news!
Thanks Laura! Seeing the heartbeat is pretty amazing. I have a feeling once the morning sickness wears off I will not miss it ONE BIT! I can't stand this, despite it being a good sign. I'm ready for some footloose and fancyfree feelings!
Hi Carrie, thanks! I was glad to see the weight loss wasn't affecting the size of the baby. In fact, I read a study that said famers actually put their pre-pregnant sheep on fertile fields to graze, then in early pregnany put them on meager fields. They found that lower food/nutrient intake actually stimulated the placenta to grow and led to healthier offspring. So maybe there really IS a good reason we all feel like crap!
Take care!
Kristi
Kristi,
I'm so happy for you--I can't imagine having to have waited until now for some reassurance. I was discontinued from the speacialists after they saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks (I'm due 8/15 or so). My OB/GYN wasn't going to see me until week 10--a four week wait! Luckily, she relented and said she'd do another u/s today--but nature intervened and they closed due to an ice storm! Now I have to wait until Monday!
I wish I could just know everything was going to be ok--I need weekly reassurance. I am also feeling a little better this week, which I don't like. Every time I felt like s---, I knew things were ok!
Cant wait to hear about other great milestones!
Lynne
