8 week check up

Well, things were uneventful at my checkup today. I know I tend to obsess over the silly little stuff, but when (after my bi-manual exam) I asked my doc if I was measuring okay, she said, "Just about" with a smile. At the time I found that reassuring, but now that it's night, and I'm home, I'm obsessing over it. Is that, 'just about' as in a little too big or a little too small? Then she told me she wanted to do another ultrasound next Monday (I had one at 7 weeks 1 day). Again, at the time she said that I was delighted. All I was thinking was that I wouldn't have to go a whole month without the reassurance of being in my ob office. Now, I'm wondering, why does she want another ultrasound? She said it was just because of my history, but I had the same history when I was pg with Sam. But, on the other hand, she wasn't there to see this ultrasound and it wasn't even performed by an ultrasound tech - just my fave nurse shelby who wasn't really sure how to operate the new u/s machine - but could enough to show us a heartbeat.
So I'm being paranoid about nothing, right? Doc just wants an ultrasound tech to measure and date the baby, right? RIGHT??
I'm so nuts. :)

Misty,
Don't worry. It sounds like your appointment was positive and that your Dr is just being thorough. It makes sense that she would want to have a qualified technician measure and date the baby no matter what. I know it's hard to stay calm and not second guess everything that happens at our appointments (I'm just as guilty - ask my DH!), but you know that the best thing you can do for your little one is relax and let it grow in a stress-free environment. If you're really worried call your Dr and ask her to re-explain her comments and recommendations. That could ease your mind.

Hi Misty,
How could she say either way how you measured at 8 weeks, w/o an U/S that is? Sorry I'm confused by that. I've never known them to be able to measure you this early w/o using an U/S. Having another U/S is always reassuring when you've had a m/c, especially if you've been bleeding. I would look at that as a gift. I get one a week for the most part, but that's because I've had so many losses and because of my history.
I know it's hard not to obsess on what they say, or don't say. If you haven't experienced any problems, sounds like your Dr is being very thorough, which is a very good thing.
Try and relax (popular words of advice on this board...smile)
