I talked to the midwife a few days ago who said I'm not getting an ultrasound until 18 weeks!! WTF?? I'm on 400mg of progesterone for multiple loses due to a really short LP (and I make very little progesterone on my own). I had spotting and although my numbers have been good (three beta draws), I still want an ultrasound to check for viability. The scariest thing to me is the thought of the baby not living and I don't know and go on for weeks and weeks thinking it's alive and it's not. And I don't m/c because of the progesterone...am I crazy?? I hate this, I'm paying for it so I should be able to get it, right? I mean, it's not like I'm asking for a free one, lol. I'm so mad! You know, between you and me, I've thought of having some "cramping" and going to the ER. I hate to do that but how am I going to be able to rest without knowing if the baby is alive. And I'm a big girl so it's not like we're going to hear the h/b on doppler until around 14 weeks either. And typically I don't feel movement until 18 or more weeks. Darnit!! I wanna, I wanna!! Just to see a h/b would make me feel so much better!
Thanks for letting me vent and whine. What would you guys do? BTW-I've had three m/c's.
Thanks!
laura

Laura,
I'm sorry your Dr. isn't being more understanding.
Did you request an early u/s. I would if I were in your position. I had a missed m/c so my doctor wanted to do an early one to make sure that didn't happen again.

Oh Laura~~~sorry! I can feel your anger and frustration! I cry and whine...that is what has gotten me 2 extra u/s with this bean (my doc knows I'm a freak after 2 m/c). I have had a total of 6 u/s now b/c of that and low progesterone monitoring!
Demand it!!!! Do whatever you have to do to see your babe...at least once. Hopefully they will understand you only need peace of mind! (((HUGS)))
Oh HECK no!!!
My old ob/gyn had told me (after one pg resulting in one mc) that with my subsequent pgs she'd be following it closely with us. Starting at 6 wks!!!
I would DEMAND an early us. If that nurse won't listen, go right to the nurses station, ask for the head nurse/office manager and if they still won't listen, grab your doc by the arm as he/she is running into the next room and make it perfectly clear that, for you personal sanity and your pgs well-being, you need an us ASAFP!!!!!!!!!!!
seriously. 18wks is INSANITY.
I feel VERY strongly about this. DO NOT let them force you to wait when you don't feel you can!!!!!!

ok,
the idea about saying your spotting and cramping...is a good idea and probably easier then screaming at everyone to get an us. (which, is what I suggested-forgive me, I'm a little emotional)
but, seriously, us aren't a big deal-especially w/ yr history they should not be waiting until 18wks. I just made an appt w/ a new ob/gyn (my dh wants me to deliver at a diff. hospital then my old ob is at) and I was told my first us would be at 8wks. Which, is very reasonable!
good luck, and let us know!
