First doc appt.

Hello everyone!
I saw my doc for the first time today (finally after 3 scheduled appts.). She is now treating me like a regular pregnant woman. She doesn't want to do anymore u/s until the BIG 20th one. My last u/s had very little blood in it (blood measured 1.8cm x .8cm x 1.4cm, so she feels more comfortable with waiting it out. She tried to find the h/b with the doppler and couldn't, so I got another u/s. Baby was moving all over the place (I am at 11 wks). So exciting. Still...I can't wait until I can feel this baby move and when I reach the point that I won't worry so much. So...the next decision is whether to go through with the quad screen or not. Has anyone else done this test???? Everything turned out fine???? I know people who have received both false positives and false negatives (however, that person was carrying twins...one had down's, the other nothing). Just wondering what other people are doing. I don't know if I want to have something else to worry about (not only worrying about m/cing but whether the baby has something wrong), and I REFUSE to do an amnio. 2 m/c make you think highly about odds. Thanks for your prayers and positive thoughts and TIA for any information. Hugs to all.

I took the test with my son. I look at it like this: You can either take it and be prepared if something is wrong or you can not find out and maybe have to be unprepared and shocked. If you are less in shock about it than you can enjoy your little on regardless of the problems you may face. But, most of the time everything turns out fine and you have a healthy pregnancy. Also, look at it like this, are you going to find out if it is a boy or girl? Its pretty much the same concept. You usually like to find out so that you can prepare. Good luck on whatever you decide.

I don't have any advice re: the testing, but wanted to wish you the best with your decisions. So glad you finagled another u/s! ;) Happy to hear you've got a little swimmer in there!

Congrats on the wonderful appt and u/s Kara!! :)

About the testing...my dh and I opted against it with all of our pregnancies (1 daughter, 2 m/c's, and this baby girl). 1) we knew we wouldn't do an amnio either so IF there was a positive we wouldn't be able to know for sure if it was a false positive or real one. and 2) with all the stress of pg after m/c's, at the time I didn't think that i could handle the stress of waiting for the results and the chance for false positives and/or false negatives, and 3) we could never terminate a pregancy and figure God will give us what we need.

When I was talking to my OB about my feelings on testing, she said the decision is primarily based on what you will do with the information.

Thanks everyone for your feelings on this. I am putting it in God's hands knowing that he will give us what we can handle. I want to enjoy this pregnancy, so we are going to withhold the testing and wait until the 20 week u/s. Thanks for all your P&PT. You guys are so awesome. I wouldn't stay sane without you.
