Hi Tracy:)

1- When do you normally start to show on a first pregnancy? Every pg is different.

Hi!! Well...I think everyone is differnet, but I'll tell you my experiences. :)

1- When do you normally start to show on a first pregnancy?
I don't know when "bloating" actually turns to "showing". I'd say people were well guessing I was preg by 12wks...Pre-1st pregancy I was about 5'7" and 135 so maybe I just popped earlier?

2- When do you switch over to maternity pants?
I was in FULL maternity gear at 12weeks with Alyssa! (I get big fast, with this one it was 11wks!) The pants were very much needed at that point...the shirts I could have waited and did wear some longer non-maternity ones, but I needed the shirts to cover my maternity panels. But before 12wks I was doing the ponytail holder through the buttons on my pants or just not zipping them all the way up so I could wear them. After a m/c I was terrified that wearing maternity pants would jinx me. But, at 12wks I could no longer put it off...and I was much more comfy in maternity clothes!

3- Is it ok to wear control panties?
Hmmmm...never asked, not sure...hope someone else knows for you.

HTH! :)

Tracy,

I think it depends on a lot of factors.

I am 10w6d, and last weekend I bought my first pair of maternity pants! I can get away with some of my regular jeans that are stretchy, but I have to use the rubber band trick to button them. The maternity jeans I bought are really comfy, they just have a wide band (about 4 or 5 inches) all the way around instead of a full panel, so I wear it with a longer shirt and noone can tell they're maternity. I have some room to grow into them too, so I think I can hopefully get another few months out of them. I don't need maternity shirts yet, but I have been wearing my bigger, baggy tops. I am guessing in a few weeks people will be able to tell that I am pregnant just by looking at me!
Have fun shopping for new clothes!

Tracy,

Here I am at almost 18 weeks and things are really starting to get tight, although maternity pants & shirts still look a bit silly! This is my second (first pg ended in m/c at 8weeks) pg. I think it totally depends on your body! I'm 5'7" and started out at a 112lbs. So far I have gained 8lbs. I have a couple of pairs of shorts and several skirts that have drawstrings so they seem to best for now. I also have a couple of elastic waist skirts that work well. My big problem is that most of my shirts are tight fitting so I'm having a hard time finding something to wear on top! I have bought 3 pairs of maternity shorts that I can wear (they are big) and are really comfortable but again my problem is I don't really have any shirts that are loose and long enough to cover the waist band. I have bought several maternity t-shirts but they look huge! I have been picking maternity gear up at Target from the clearance rack for weeks now! Good luck to you! I know how stressful it can be!

Thanks EVERYONE!

I think I'm gonna be an early one.... I am just too uncomfortable in jeans now. The rubber band "trick" will work for another week or so... but I might start looking at Old Navy by my house to invest in some maternity pants....... or maybe just some more yoga pants.

It will be fun to look at all the fun maternity clothes, some are just so darling!

I will just play it by ear..... it really sounds like such a wide variety really depends on each of our own bodies and how they "react" to pregnancy.
