OB RN appointment

So I had my first appointment with the new OB group today. I saw the nurse, who is really cool. She gave me a big packet of stuff and we went over nutrition and things to avoid and stuff. Its amazing that my last MD never told me any of this stuff. She was very sympathetic to the fact that I just had a m/c 2 1/2 months ago and understood that I'm really anxious and stuff. She said that most people who have a m/c with their first pregnancy go on to have a normal 2nd pg. I asked her about HCG levels and she said that they really don't send people for b/w (they are a regular OB group, not fertility specialists or anything). She said that the doctors don't really see a need for it. At first I was upset, but then I realized that if I did have blood draws, I'd just obsess about my numbers. And I did want to be as minimally invasive with this pg as I could. Plus, last time my numbers were good and I went on to have a m/c. So once I thought about it I was ok without having b/w. I am scheduled for my first u/s on november 1st and I will be 6w5d. She wanted to do it early enough that it would decrease my anxiety but not too early to chance not seeing a hb. She was really cool...she said that I can call her anytime with any questions and concerns. I told her how my bbs weren't as sore as the beginning of the week and she said that the hormone levels change all the time and you will have surges. But let me tell you...the fatigue sure did hit this afternoon...I'm going to take a nap, lol. So I do feel a bit better about things...trying to stay positive and not worry.

She went by my ovulation date and give me an EDD of 6/21, just as I figured. Yes, I do really like this office and I feel better now that I went, even though I didn't get b/w.

You're right though about maybe not having the b/w being a good thing for you. That way you don't obsess/stress over the results. I'm sure they'll be keeping an eye on you. Pretty soon you'll be hearing the baby's hb at your appointments! And you're going to see your baby pretty soon that's also something great to look forward to. I'm sure everything will turn out ok.
