Nuchal Translucency Screen

I had the nuchal translucency screening done yesterday morning. It is a non-invasive test...just an ultrasound and bloodwork. The u/s tech measures the skin fold thickness at the back of the baby's neck and takes that number and your age and it calculates your risk for Down's, Trisomy 18 and Turner's syndrome. Combined with bloodwork, the screening is 85-90% accurate. I have to wait for the bloodwork results but the skin fold measurements were perfect. The great thing was that I got to see the baby for 15 minutes on u/s while the tech got the measurments. The baby looked great and was moving all over the place and sucking its thumb! How cute! Just a few more days and I'll be in the 2nd trimester!
