Oh Marissa!! I know how you must felt waiting for the technician to say something...We found out with the u/s at 19 wks something was wrong with our baby so like you, I don't have the best memories. I'm glad that everything turn out well for you and your little bean! And don't worry, everything will be OK! It is a good thing the doctor knows about the fibroid because he will take extra care of you! (((((HUGS)))))
I'm sorry Marissa! I know with us PAL moms we'll never feel the same. That ignorance othe moms have is gone for us so I understand your stress. I can't believe that tech! I hope the next one you'll get a good tech. I always ask questions don't be afraid to do that! They can tell you at least if your baby is measuring correctly. I hope you get a better experience next time. :)
Wow Marissa! That must have been terrifying. I have had similar experiences with u/s techs and now I prep them by telling them I have had too many bad experiences on those u/s tables and need info! I won't shut up now-- I ask so many questions! "Can we see the hb first?" "How fast is it?" "Does the baby measure according to my due date?" And I count fingers and toes and basically make them talk me through the entire thing. That's the only reason why I have had some good experiences SINCE the bad ones because otherwise, I leave there feeling jittery, even though I saw that the baby was okay! I guess they just can't understand how hard it is to be a PAL. U/S techs are all too often about the data and not tuned in to how emotional it is for the parents! Anyway, I'm so glad that all looked great and that your little one is doing well! Wish it could have been a better experience from start to finish-- but the baby's progress is good news!
I am so sorry that the tech freaked you out like that. Yay for your husband for being agressive with the doctor! I am glad that everything looks good. Being a PAL sucks because we worry about every little thing. I hate that. I just want to enjoy my pregnancy. Hugs and belly rugs.
I'm so happy to hear that the u/s of the baby was perfect. I don't know anything about fibroids during pregnancy, but it certainly sounds like your doctor doesn't expect it to be a problem.
Waiting for results of the u/s must have been agony. Sometimes people get so wrapped up in their work they forget there is a feeling person in the room. It's good that your husband asked for the results right away. Waiting 24 hours would have felt like an eternity.
Now you can enjoying being pregnant, knowing that the baby is growing perfectly.
