Walked into triage

Well after a day of horrible cramps on one side and a fever, the triage office told me to go into the er.....military er's are the worst! So I called the ob gyn office to schedule an appointment ,the soonest one being Feb. 20th!!! So I took myself and my anger to the triage. I walked in. I had a wonderful doctor! I have always been anemic my whole life but since my m/c and the transfusions it has been so low, he tested my blood and told me that my homaticrit level is so low I could recieve another transfusion right now, but instead I have to get admitted once a week for IV Iron supplements because over the counter vitamans back me up..... needless to say I have been taking the prenatals I have here because I have been so afraid not to. Anyway ...(TMI) I had to get something to clean me out because the vitamans have made me so sick!!! Well, after a night of running to the bathroom, kind of like the dumb and dumber movie when he uses the wrong toilet......yeah, I feel wonderful. I also had an ultrasound done that confirmed that I was 5wks and 4days that was Friday!!!! I feel like finally someone listened to me! I could hug the man! It was a wonderful gift to me, and mentally I feel so much better. So now the question, he said it was to early to get a heartbeat, and I am trusting that that is true. When can you hear it? I wanted to rent a doppler like some of the ladies how soon can I hear it?Finally, all the way to the appointment I kissed my good luck necklace prayed as hard as I could, I stayed very calm, I didn't tell him that I was afraid. He looked right at me during the appointment and said, I have a good feeling about this pregnancy I'm sure it will all be fine. I had to thank god leaving the office. What a wonderful feeling......

Hello there!
I'm glad you finally went to the triage and had the reassurance you needed!!
About your question, sice I'm not an expert I went online and found this:

In most cases, fetal heartbeats can be detected between 10-12 weeks. In more rare cases, they can be found as early as 8-9 weeks. However, it is recommended that most women wait until the 10-12 week range since it can be very difficult to locate the fetal heartbeat earlier.

Seems like your doctor is in the right track!!!
If you want to rent a doppler I would recomend waiting a few more weeks so you won't waste money ;)

Dear Andi,

I'm so glad you got in for an appointment, that is just wonderful and will relieve some of your worries.

Don't worry, you don't see the heartbeat until 6-7 weeks.

Andi,

I agree with the other ladies, it is toooo soon to see that heartbeat.

Andi:

I am so glad you went in there, not glad you had pain and everything else, but glad you got to confirm everything is well...

My Dr. wasn't able to see the heartbeat until 6 1/2 weeks, at that point you could see a little tiny blob with a heartbeat pumping away.... She was able to hear it right at ten weeks, but she warned me that many times it isn't possible to hear until closer to twelve weeks. I rented a doppler at 11 weeks and I was able to hear the heartbeat after three days of trying, but just to warn you, somedays I would hear it and somedays I didn't, so I think sometimes it makes me more nervous than peaceful!... When you rent one it warns you that you should start trying until you are 10-12 weeks...

In any case, I am so glad you got to
