Bonnie, I haven't had mine yet, but I've done some reading. It's supposed to be fairly accurate when done by qualified providers. Are you getting the combined screening (with the bloodwork)?
I recently read that a combination of NT screening with bloodwork done by a certified provider followed by a quad screen can detect about 97% of problems. But I only read that in one source and have not confirmed it with my doctor.
I have two appts...I can't decide if I want to get it done locally or travel to NYC to get it done at Columbia. The local hospital said I would get details about the u/s the same day and would receive the bloodwork in about 5 business days. Columbia said results would be sent to my OB in 4 days, so it sounds like I won't get any info right away. (I don't like that!) So, I guess it depends on the hospital.
Someone posted their NT results recently and they were told the sex. Devon replied to my question about the NT and said she received wrong info about the sex. So don't go on a gender slanted shopping spree right after your test!
Do you know if the u/s is done externally or vaginally? I forgot to ask that question.
Good luck. I'll be thinking about you on Thursday and looking forward to reading some good news.
