What a morning!

Hi everyone!

Whew, I've had enough drama for one day! At this morning's 12 week appointment, the second part was a midwife exam/physical. Things were going fine..and then she lunges for the dopplar. I don't know what I was thinking..but I didn't think she was going to listen to the baby's heartbeat during the physical. I was waiting for the u/s to begin my anxiety attack! The midwife is searching and searching and SEARCHING for the baby's heartbeat..she kept thinking she'd find it, and it would turn out to be mine (my heart rate was sky high with as terrified as I was). After 5 minutes or so she stops and says, "Honey, I'll be right back." I was sure that things weren't good. I laid on the table and was horrified. My doctor rushes into the room with the ultrasound machine. It was an hour and a half earlier than my scheduled u/s appointment, but things move quickly when there's concern as to the heartbeat. I couldn't look at the screen as she inserted the wand. The first words out of her mouth were, "Baby's fine, baby's fine..." I don't think I had taken a breath for the 10 minutes prior to that. She said that my uterus is tipped and the baby is nestled behind which made it difficult to pick up on the dopplar. We saw that precious heartbeat flicker..as well as the baby flip and turn! At one point, the doctor said, "Look, baby is waving at you and telling you that he/she's doing great!" Oh, it was quite an emotional morning. Needless to say, I'm pooped! Thankfully, we have a beautiful picture of the baby and all is well. We plan to share the news when DH gets home from work today. Thanks so much for all of your kind thoughts and prayers...While I was trying to stay strong on that table, I thought of all the kind people (you all included!) that were helping root for us..and it made a big difference. Thank you for that :)

Hugs!

WHEW is right! I'm so glad everything went well, despite the drama at first! What a relief to see that little flicker. Now go and relax for the rest of the day, you certainly deserve it :)
