Well it didn’t start off well at all. I had to see the most horrible doctor. I’ve never liked him. He was so mean to me when I was pregnant before. He tries to make you feel like your concerns are real. Anyone I vowed never to see him again, but he was the only one that I could get in with today so I sucked it up. I was brought in because I was having some pain on the left side again.
First he looked for cysts, and found two (one on each side) so I did ovulate twice. One was 3.5 cm and the other was 4.5 cm. For those, he said if the pain gets worse that I will need checked again because there is some risk of injury to the ovary that can apparently be life threatening!
Then he started to look for the pregnancy and immediately found a sac. He says, as if it’s no big deal to me at all, “well I see a sac but it looks empty.” I immediately lost it because that’s how it started with the miscarriage. He kept saying “well if you’re dates are off…” I interrupted and was like “My dates are NOT off.” I was totally losing it by this point because I was sure it was another blighted ovum. Since I was so upset he kept looking. He zoomed in on the sac and made it brighter and then we saw an embryo, and then the best part of all – we saw a heartbeat! We couldn’t get a measure on how fast but I’m sure it was over a 100 bpm because my heart was beating out of my chest and he said it was faster than mine. I started to cry again, and the doctor just looked annoyed when I thanked him. I will never see him again, but I refuse to let him rain on my parade today. The baby measured right on with my lmp date too. There was some white stuff on the other side of the sac, and I asked him if it was a twin. He said it was too early to tell and that we’ll check it at my next ultrasound.
Yeah for me today!!! I’m feeling so much better!

Congratulations Nikki!!!!
Nikki, I'm so relieved for you!
Although I'd like to shoot that doctor -- the fact that he'd even let such a careless remark leave his lips... if you're going to say a sac looks empty, you'd best a) be certain and b) have a little sensitivity! Oooh, how do these people get out of med school?
So you likely know what's causing your pain (the cysts) AND you have a little bean with a heartbeat. I'm so, so happy. I'll be thinking about you.
Hugs,

Congratulations!!! Thats good news!
Sorry you had to have that nasty Dr, hes definately a jerk. Maybe he should have gone into a different specialty.... like proctology.
