I remember at my 9 week appt this little guy measured about 5 days behind and I was terriffied. But, the doctor wasn't worried and I posted about it here. Everyone said that within one week is ok because it's not a perfect science and your DH is right, it's hard to measure a little wiggly gummy bear. I know it's hard not to worry but I'm sure by your next appt your baby will have caught up! ((hugs))
When I got my BFP, I was charting, recording my EWCM and the whole nine yards!, my EDD according to my O days, was June 22, but my Dr keeps measuring me for June 29, so my little boy has been a week behind from the beginning!... at first I was terrified that I was doomed, Dr said it could have been late implantation. I'm 25 weeks now and hoping and praying everything is well!, so I would not worry too much.
I had my level II u/s a few weeks ago and the tech measure me for 21 weeks instead of 20, which were my calculations to begin with, but here we are 20 weeks later and
My SIL is pregnant. She's actually due two days after me. She went in at 8w2d for an u/s and the baby measured exactly 7 weeks. She just went back in on 12w2d for another u/s and the baby measured at exatly 12w2d. I think a few days is fine. My daughter was always 2-3 days off.
The same thing happened to me. With DS that Im pg with now, I measured 6W1D at 6W5D, then 7W3D at 8W. However, at the 10W3D ultrasound, I measured 10W5D. What I discovered was that the measurements depend on what statistics are loaded into their program, and that can vary widely, even with the same machine, depending on how far along you are. Best to look at the CRL and use a chart on your own. My Dr's machine apparently measures on the smaller side in early pregnancy, then larger later because some stats are from 1979 and other are from 1995.
(((HUGS))) Dawn! It is so hard being a pal! Anika too measured behind in the beginning. Here are my u/s's with her...
1st supposed to be 6w0d measured 5w3d (no hb/no fetal pole) 2nd supposed to be 6w6d measured 6w0d (with a hb!!! yeah!!) 3rd supposed to be 7w5d measured 7w3d
By the time we got to the BIG u/s she was measuring almost a week ahead! I think these little beans just grow at their own pace. My dr. said they don't worry until the babe is measuring more than a week behind. My situation was a little different being my progesterone was only 6.5 with her at the 1st u/s and we were told we'd lose her. MAN did my little girl prove THEM wrong!
Sounds to me that everything is just fine hun...many things can affect the u/s measurements...implantation calculation, the u/s tech themselves, position of the babe.
Try not to worry hun...but I know how hard that is! (((HUGS))

Dawn,
I tend to agree with your DH.

Dear Dawn,
I think that you should not worry, the u/s can always be off by +/- 5 days.
