Grrr! Since about the 6th week or so of my pregnancy I've been breaking out like a freaking teenager. Not just my face either - my neck, my chest and my back. And I know there are very few options for what to use. Does anyone have any suggestions that work well? I use orgins and wash and cleanse twice a day. Help!!

Tara, what is the acne fighting ingredient in the Nutragena? I know that anything with salicylic acid is off limits. I read some where that benzoyl peroxide was about the only acne fighter that was safe during

Oh, is salicylic acid a pg no-no?! I use it every day, especially when I'm pg (I have this acne problem too), and have checked with both my OB and my fertility specialist about it, both say it's OK. What have you heard about it?

I know accutane is a HUGE NO-NO, but that's not what I'm using.

Hmmmm, I'm confused now. I guess I would have to trust what your doctor's tell you, right? I've read in a few places about salicylic acid, but this was in my weekly e-mail from the American Pregnancy Association this morning:

During pregnancy some women develop oily skin and suffer from acne. If you are using over-the-counter medications to treat this, then it is important that you know what ingredients the cleaners and other products contain.

Products that contain benzoyl peroxide are considered safe for use during pregnancy, while products containing salicylic acids have been categorized as medicines best to avoid, especially during the first trimester. If you have questions regarding the safety of a particular medication during pregnancy, it is best to consult with your healthcare provider.

I'll definitely be asking my doctor next week what she thinks. Seems there is a lot of conflicting info out there on this. And I am so sick of trying to hide my pimply freaknish. :-)
