2nd U/S went well & surgery update

Hi Ladies
I have been distracted from worrying about this u/s because my DH is having an appendectomy and is in surgery. This all happened last night so I haven't been worrying about my pregnancy for once! I shall hopefully have a happy update on him later. Meanwhile...

My 7w 2d u/s went wonderfully. Even I was (dare I say?) 'hopeful' afterwards.

The baby now measures 7w 5d (7w 4d on some views) and has a h/b of 167 (up from 122 last week). We could see the egg sac, the amnion, even the beginnings of the little placenta. The sac was reassuringly ovoid in shape without the weird peanut shape of last week (which I was told was FINE btw).

There were even the beginnings of arm and leg buds and the black space in the skull showed where the head was. The tech was wonderful and explained how that black dot shows where the ventricles will develop.

So, I felt wonderfully nauseous throughout but not from nerves. The RE came in to see me afterwards and said everything looks great. It is still early days but everything is developing exactly right and that odds improve with each week that passes.

My next appointment is Friday 12th same time.

Shannon

Shannon,

Congrats on the great ultrasound! It sure sounds like you've got a sticky bean in there. And the fact that you are feeling hopeful is a good thing.

I hope your husband's surgery went well. Even though I'm sure it was scary, it was probably nice to not be fretting over the little peanut for a few hours!

Keep us posted,

Shannon,

I'm very glad to hear your 7 week u/s went well! I hope your DH will be fine, too. When is your milestone - 10 weeks I recall? I will be sending you lots of P&PT in the meantime. It's great to see so many of us older moms getting BFPs on here. I hope you keep feeling queasy, and I mean that in the nicest possible way.

Hugs,

Shannon,

All signs seem to point to a healthy baby! Congratulations -- such good news!

Hope your DH has a quick and easy recovery -- I know they've gotten the hang of apendectomies in the past few years. Although it always seems a bit trying taking care of men, it'll definitely keep you occupied!

Hugs,

Shannon that is great news! You must be so psyched. Hope your husband isn't in too much pain. My appendix was removed at age five and I haven't missed it one bit! I will be praying for your sticky little bean.
