Hey Preggos!

It's been a while since I checked in and even though I finally got caught up on reading, there's no way I'm going to be able to repond to everyone. Here are a few:

Jenn: Welcome back, hon!

Shannon: Let us know how it goes ASAP, ok?

Cass, my buddy: I KNOW! I'm 12 weeks tomorrow, and completely confused as to whether I'm in the 2nd Tri then, or at 13 weeks, or at 14 weeks. I've heard all of them referred to as the beginning of 2nd Tri. I get the I'm 11 weeks/in my 12th week thing, but when the 2nd Tri starts is completely confusing. Tell me when you're going to move down and I'll come with you and we can keep checking in on our 1T gals too!

Newbies: Much love, I hope this thread is as comforting to you gals as it has been to me. :-)

Bex: I'm so sorry, honey! June 6 is my angel Jordan's due date, and I've been thinking about it more lately. I wouldn't have met any of you if I hadn't lost him/her. If I had to go through that, at least I got new friends! Hugs to you, I understand how you're feeling, at least a little bit.

As for me, my nausea is gone but I still have a hard time with smells like DD's poopy diapers, etc... I also gag easier and since I'm getting over bronchitis and coughing a lot, that's been tricky. But overall, I'm feeling much better. I still have a heartbeat in the 160-170 bpm range anytime I use my doppler!!!! I actually feel pretty safe now that we're going to keep this one. It's wonderful. I've been looking at baby stuff online, and starting to think about it like it's real. I'm so excited. Hannah is thrilled and says regularly, "New baby coming out pretty soon?" and "I'll share my's crib with mommy's new baby."

Hi Ladies
I am very much enjoying my day at home today after the drama yesterday. I just can't get through an OB appointment without some bad news. As most of you probably read my update, I will be brief:

Good news: The baby is doing great with HB in 170s. My official due date has changed from 12/20 to 12/17 and I am actually measuring a few days ahead of that. By the way, how does that happen? Last week I measured 9 weeks 4 days on Thursday, this week 11 weeks 1 day or 3 days depending who you believe. Can a baby grow 10 days in a week or is someone on crack? So, regardless, I am now almost 11 weeks which is great.

Worry: My OB ran lots of bloodwork, some to investigate my 'fever' in the high 98's low 99s which doesn't bother me but is a bit of a worry. The anxiety arose from a distinctive nuchal translucency on the u/s. For those not in the know, that is indicative of down's syndrome. She (and I) were concerned so she ordered a nuchal u/s and ob u/s STAT in case we decided to have CVS (which would be done next week). The nuchal showed no obvious problems (legs, fingers, eye sockets and a dubious gender which I thought looked male).. the only worry is that the nuchal translucency IS on the large side. For up to 11 weeks (since I ovulated on 3/27 with a trigger shot and charting and had a BFP 12DPO, there is no real debate about dates) it should be less than 2mm but mine was 2.1mm. So, its close but since every mm increase within the average range increases risk of downs OR heart problems, that's not the best result. Still I am SUPER glad it was not worse and I am now waiting for the results of the quad screen blood panel (and other tests) due back within the week.

I went to bed at 9pm and slept for almost 11 hours... now I feel better. The result of all this fear and worry is that I completely bonded with this baby and lost all my clinical detachment. I now feel quite comfortable talking to it and encouraging it on its way. Thankfully, I am having a low nausea day too so have just eaten a big bowl of vegie curry, yoghurt and rice which was great.

Such a long update... I am glad all are well and wish you early first trimester gals the best of luck and good ole symptoms brewing.

Shannon

Shannon:

Sorry to hear that your results weren't perfect, but they truly are only a tiny smidgen outside of normal.

Given that and the fact that I think, no, I mean I KNOW, that kids in the womb just do not grow at the same rate. It would be impossible for that to be true. If you need proof just look at a class full of 3rd graders. Some of them look like they are 13 and others look like they are 8. This range of development is true for every stage of development.

Secondly, you can take this idea of ranges of development and apply it to all kinds of things. My first ultrasound for this pregnancy had a heart rate of 86. The "normal range" was 92-120 or something. Everything I read said that a low heart rate in early ultrasound spelled doom for 50% or more of pregnancies. It was really dire reading.

Well two weeks later my ultrasound showed a heartrate of 182. Which is in the normal range of 120-187 at that stage. See? It's all just a bunch of helpful or in this case unhelpful guidelines that they give docs to make decisions and give us guidance but in the end, for any particular pregnancy those ranges shouldn't be relied on.

Now, I know, I know easier said then done. I was convinced I would have another m/c when I got word of that 86ppm rate. But I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!

Wow, didn't end up to get up on a soapbox here, my intention was just to try to be more helpful then those numbers. Hope I accomplished something to that affect. I really feel like this is going to come out all right for you. I'm glad to see that you seem to be in relatively good spirits about it. Heck, the 11 hours of sleep had to help with that =)

Keep us posted on your progress...

Edited to add: Did you notice the baby in my siggy is now off and running down the baby trail? She's not all bunched up in the cutie preggo lady's space anymore. Yay!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Has anyone had a migrane? I have been suffering with this since yesterday morning and it does not want to go away, especially with Tylenol. I am 13 weeks 5 days and I know I should post in the 2nd Tri chat, but I am scared to admit I am there especially since my loss was at 15 weeks, so I figured I would stick around here until I pass that milestone if you guys don't mind. Saturday was my EDD for my m/c and it was a hard day but I made the best of it. We planted a butterfly bush for my peanut and released white and pink balloons to celebrate her birthday. I cried a lot, but all in all I think I handled things well.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!
