Question about 5w u/s

Hi again ladies...I posted in the 1T chat section but thought I'd post here too....

I went in for my first u/s yesterday and at 5w1d we saw a gestational sac measuring 7mm. Mr dr. was really pleased with it because it was almost perfectly round and it was a whole 5mm bigger that the one we saw at the same gestational age back in August before my m/c. I asked him if it was okay that there was nothing visible inside it it, and he said yes since it is still so early. But I know at that stage some people can see a yolk sac in there. Has anyone else only seen a gestational sac at 5w? My next appointment is 4 weeks away so I won't know anything till then.

Thanks-you all are great.

I never had an ultrasound quite that early, but I think it sounds totally normal!

I think in the early weeks so much can change even in a day's time - that if the doc thinks things look great, you should believe him!

I had an u/s at 5wks and 4 days but it was really, really small and the heartrate was a little low. The little bean was just getting going. And especially in the early days beans grow so quickly that I wouldn't be surprised to go from sight-unseen to teeny-bean-baby in just 4 days.

That said, I know you will still worry. You can ask your doc for a scan earlier or the HCG is an option like the pp said. Anyway, I hope you don't worry too much.

I'm sending you a fabulously healthy 9 month vibes.

I had my first u/s at 4w5d and we couldn't see anything in the gestational sac (we barely saw the gestational sac either!)...but everything turned out wonderful.

Thank you all so much. I am really trying not to worry too much or make myself go crazy, like I did with the last pg. I feel a little more positive about this one as well (as positive as I can, anyway, after having a loss) so I am hoping that is a good sign!!!! Thanks girls :)
