Just had a dr's appt and she couldn't find the gestational sac, which worried the hell out of us since I'm supposed to be 5 weeks. To be on the safe side, the dr sent me to get a ultrasound. The radiologist(??) said that she did see a sac and the reason the dr didn't see it is 'cuz I have a bicornuate uterus. No fetal pole was detected either.

I'm scared. Does this mean definite mc? Is there a possibility that the fetal pole will develop soon?

So freaked out and trying not to obsess, but you know I'm stalking my dr for the test results and diagnosis.

Thanks for listening.

Actually what I have read is that the fetal pole would be viable from 6 weeks. So Good luck, keep stalking your doc and keep us updated!

Try this link and it explaines early pregnancy and u/s:

I had an u/s at 5w 1d, and they couldn't see anything other than the sac. No embryo, no fetal pole, nothing. So I was terrified too. But I went back at 6w 3d, and there s/he was, heart beating away! So I'd try not to worry TOO much (easier said than done, I know). It doesn't necessarily mean bad things. Hugs!

Winnie-I had an u/s at 5w1d and all we saw was a gestational sac (no fetal pole either), and I was worried also, but the dr said was very normal for that early in the pregnancy. I found a website (I wish I could remember it now for you) that said that most likely all you will see at 5w is a gestational sac. The rest starts to develop at around 5 1/2 weeks, so that really made me feel better. I bet you will probably see a fetal pole at your next u/s. I will be sending you sticky baby vibes and keeping you in my thoughts!!!
