Congratulations Heather!!!
Yeah! Do you have
Heather, that's such exciting news. I have never heard of having the gender results from the ultrascreen but how fun to know so early. Most importantly... those downs and trisomy risks are really low and you must feel very relieved.

Great results! Is it typical to do a gender screening with ultrascreen? I have one scheduled for this Thursday and would LOVE to get those results!

The gender screening is not part of the traditional ultrascreen. I went to the Center for Women's Genetics (in Houston) for my ultrascreen and this is something they are doing (as a separate test, but it started as a research project). They are running over 90%...better than an u/s.
I believe they are looking in my blood for fetal cells. So, if they find a male "cell" it's obviously not from me...so if false "positives" were to happen it would be if they say girl and it really is a boy (because they didn't get any fetal cells from my blood draw).
Thanks again for the P&PT.
Congratulations on the good results!!!! And joining the blue team as well! You'll love to have a little baby boy!
Belly rubs,
Carol
