Hi,

I am just starting to get a little more comfortable in this pregnancy and was wanting to get some books - I seem to forget all the reading I did the first time. I am looking for your advice, what are your favorites and why? TIA!

Heather,

My favorite books with my past pg's were.... "What to Expect When You're Expecting" and "The Pregnancy/Birth Book" by Dr. Sears and his wife.

I got the popular What to Expect When You're Expecting but when you've had a m/c in the past, that book can scare the crap out of you.

For a little humor - try "Belly Laughs" by Jenny McCarthy - I just finished it on the plan last night and it's hilarious.

I do NOT like What to Expect because when it talks about the weeks, say weeks

I highly recommend "Trying Again" by Ann Douglas. She has suffered miscarriage and stillborn and has dedicated a lot of the book to women who've become pregnant after a loss and the special concerns that they have. Also, from my 1st pregnancy I loved "The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy" by Vicki Iovine. It's a fun read but she's never miscarried so she pretty much skips that part. It's great when you need a good laugh about the physical/emotional changes of pregnancy. Hope that helps. Happy reading!

This time around, I haven't read a thing. W/ DS, I really liked "Your pregnancy week by week" much better than the "what to expect" book.
