Well, I just tired it for about 15-20 minutes and I don't think I got it right. I heard "something" but only counted out to be about 100 beats per minute. It may have just been blood flow? What's funny, is I can tell the difference when I hear the clips on the website, but I don't know if what I'm hearing is blood flow or heartbeat in real life!
UGH!!!!
I'm 9w4d so I thought (hoping more like it) I'd be able to hear it right away. And if I did hear the heartbeat, that seems pretty slow, doesn't it? :(
Oh well, I'm filling my bladder now and will try again in a little while. If I don't get this, I don't think I'll be able to wait until my next appt. Sept. 11! Goodness gracious, that's 19 days away!
Grrrr.... Thanks for listening to me ramble.

Hang in there Heather!
Hi Heather, Start really low like right at the hair line or lower. Put your feet over the edge of the bed onto the floor, go super, super slowly and if you have a hard time figuring out if its your heartbeat just put your free fingers on your wrist that's holding the doppler wand and take your pulse. Yours will match up with the slow one. Mine was and sometimes is very hard to hear so crank up the volume too. The woosh, woosh like trees or wind is placenta or blood so try around that area. Good luck and if you cant hear it give it a break and try later, sometimes that helps too.
Good luck!
I think I got it!!! I tried again just now and I got something that sounded really faint but did count up to approx. 160! :) It's hard to count that fast and I only did the 15 second x 4 thing. Phew. :p
But anyways, thanks Amy and Tara. Amy, I took your advise and did find it off to the right a bit, much higher then where I was looking before. And Tara, thank you for saying you didn't hear yours until 11 weeks! That made me feel much better and made me realize that maybe the heartbeat is still too soft to sound like the clips on the website. What I found definitely wasn't as load or sharp as the heartbeat clip, but it wasn't the whoosh sound either. Plus the speed gave it away....
Yea! Now I can sleep tight tonight. :)
Thanks again ladies,
-Heather
