Deluring with a question

Hello, I was a member of this board in December and ended up having my second miscarriage in January.

As of last Wednesday, I am now officially 12 weeks and due in March. I have been luring around the board for a few weeks, afraid to post just in case, but i finally decided to delurk and ask a question.

I have rented a doppler and heard the hearbeat at 10 weeks. I have heard it ever since, always between 154-164 bpm. But I have noticed as farther along I have gotten the harder it has been to find and the quieter it is. It used to be really loud, but now when I do find it, it is soft and it comes and goes. Is this normal? Is it just because he/she is moving around?? It seems to be a lot deeper too, i have to push really hard to get it to come in good.

Hi Courtney,

I'm sure everything is fine. At 12 weeks I always found the heartbeat way down by the pubic bone and not always in the same place. The sounds would get softer and at times it would be harder to find. Later on I would find a strong heartbeat that would then fade, probably as the baby moves away from where the doppler is placed. Unfortunately, after 2 miscarriages, you will probably worry at least somewhat until the baby is born. I used to use the doppler every other day or so and now that I feel him regularly I probably use it once every week or so. Even now I worry, but I try to accept that and take things one day at a time.

Hang in there!

Laura
