I have heard that after a certain point in your pregnancy, you aren't supposed to sleep on your back or your right side.

I have heard this too, and when I asked my doctor, he told me that is more important that you actually get sleep, and to stop worrying about positioning.

I was wondering about this too. I have never been a back sleeper, I've always slept on my side. But for some reason in the last couple of weeks I can't get confortable unless I'm on my back...great the one position I'm not supposed to sleep in my body decides to love :) I also find my self flip flopping all night long from one side to the next because my hips start hurting. My bed sucks and we cant afford a new one :(

Candy,

I have suddenly become a back sleeper too. So strange.

I thought I would let you know, I was looking for maternity pillows too. And was shocked at how much they cost. I looked at some at Toys R Us and they were about $50. But we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond and got one of those big body pillows. They had them for $9.99. It may not be quite the same as the maternity pillows but it was alot more affordable. I just thought I would mention it for you.

Good luck!
Gina

I asked my doc about this because I am a back sleeper. She said that unless you are a high risk pg that you can sleep whatever way makes you comfortable. This was great news for me, but now that I'm in the 2T I'm no longer comfy on my back:( So I started sleeping on my side. This makes my hips hurt too. We got one of those matress pads that looks like an egg carton (kwim?) That helped a little. I also have a body pillow that I put between my knees and that helps my hips too. Sometimes I put a pillow behind me to support my back. When I was pg with DS I slept almost sitting up, propped up on pillows for most of my pg. It helped my heart burn and didn't put any pressure on my hips. HTH,

Teresa
