So I had my perinatologist apt today at 11wk 4 day. They were doing the "ultrascreen" which is a souped up version of the NT test. Baby looked good, measures 12wk 1day, hb 161 and the NT was 1 which they said was well within normal range.

Then they were just checking out my ovaries, and I kept seeing her look at a circle...whats that, I ask....I dond't know she said...not what I want to her.

Basically I have a perfectly round 3cm ball just hanging around in the vicinity of my left ovary. Not apparently attached to my ovary or utureus. The peri came in about then and said he thought it was a pendiculated leiomyoma...which the tech didn't seem to think because of it's location.

So now I will probabaly wind up having to go for an MRI...I don't know...they said it's shape was perfectly symmetrical..I have to research the whole thing now. I am going the the regular OB tomorrow who will tak more about what course of action we'll be taking.

I swear it never ends....but the peri didn't seem hugely concerned...fun fun fun.

On the good side, baby looks good, and I am 2 days past my "milestone" so on the whole things are going well.

If anyone has heard of this leiomyoma thing...please let me know.

Thanks for listening

I haven't a clue what a leiomyoma is but by your description the first thing that popped into my head was a cycst. TTC'ers were often getting cysts. They are pretty common. Another thought would be a fibroid. Which are also common and not usually a problem as long as they aren't in the way of anything.

So there's my brainstorm. Not very helpful given that I have no medical training, I've just been on these boards, TTC and PG boards for so long that you tend to gleen information from the tons of messages you read.

I hope the potential leiomyoma ends up being nothing. My hunch is that you'll be fine. Sorry I don't have more info for you....

Glad to hear baby is doing well. I've never heard of that leiomyoma thing, but hope it's nothing serious!
