No flu shot allowed in 1st T

I tried to get a flu shot at work today and I had to get an authorization from my doc first. My doctor wouldn't authorize it, she wants me to wait until I am in the 2nd T. I was surprised, she said there is a difference of opinion on this so some docs okay it in the 1st T others don't (obviously my doc falls in the later category).

Anyone else experience this? Just curious

Katie, I definitely wouldn't worry (sorry!, I didn't mean to scare you!). I was honestly very surprised that my doc said no. I have an appointment next week so I'm going to ask again. I had always heard it's best to get it ASAP and I'm a little concerned about waiting another 2 weeks. Maybe my doc is being extra conservative with me since I have had a lot of spotting with this pregnancy. I have no clue.

Depending on where you live you should be fine to wait.

Huh, that's strange. My doc said get one ASAP. I'm in OH though and we have an early/bad flu season. I got one last week at 7w, 5d.

Did the doc give a reason for waiting? I'm curious.

I didn't actually get to speak with the doc. When I asked the nurse I spoke with she just said that it is something that doctors have differing views on.

I'm in Maine so flu season starts pretty early here.

Now I feel sketchy about my docs judgement! Hopefully I'll feel better when I ask her about it during my appointment next week.

Vandana, Let me know what your doc says, I am so curious since it seems my doc is the only one who thinks it's not okay! Thanks, Michelle
