ok, i'll start it off this week.

not a bad weekend. finally kicked the head cold i had, thankfully. a couple tylenol PM did the trick, i think! got a little xmas shopping done, but am having trouble getting something for DH. he's incredibly fussy, and all he has given me for help is a couple computer parts. ugh! i want to think of something else, but have no idea. his mom gets the clothes, he doesn't read, movies are out (we have Netflix), he doesn't want any CD's (i am already getting him Chris Dautry's and Taylor Hick's CD's) grr.....any suggestions? anything "first time daddy" related???

got the tree up and decorated this weekend. now to get a few cards out and such. i'm such a slacker on those.

i'm not truely showing yet, but have been in maternity pants since 7 weeks. i'm so short, and have almost no torso (literally there is about 4-5 inches between my last rib and my hip bone) plus being overweight to begin with, i have a chubby tummy that many are mistaking for a baby belly. i'm going to be HUGE!!! yikes!!! i'm going to get andy to take a 10 week pic tonight, and you'll see what i mean. i'm in trouble.....big trouble. there is no place for baby or fat to go!!!

hope everyone had a good weekend!

Hi All,
Debb: you crack me up! I had to laugh as I read your post about your belly! You are NOT alone!! I am only 9 weeks tomorrow---and I don't have any pants that fit at this point. I hate to get maternity pants so soon but boy is my waisteline growing! Now: unfortunately for me: it is not baby at all. I have had such awful M/S that I have been eating non-stop and not healthy things either!!! I had a bowl of Peanut Butter Panic icecream at 10:30 yesterday AM!!!! My hubby thinks I've lost it, but the cold just tasted good and let's not forget the protein!!! ;)
Vandana: I am so excited that you are now in your 2T!!!! Yeehaw!!!! Please keep us posted---but I will be lurking to see how you are doing in that section.
How are the rest of you ladies doing? Any big appts you guys want to share? I go back next Tuesday for a 10 week U/S...hoping all goes well and that all this nausea is for good reason!
Have a terrific week--

Lori - glad to crack you up!! try Old Navy for maternity pants that don't look it. I have a couple pairs from there. And NY&Co. They had some great stretchy (but loose, not that tight crap) pants that are heaven sent!

What brand is that ice cream????? I want some!!! Peanut Butter is my absolute fav!!!!!

speaking of food, I usually LOVE movie popcorn...(and i'm the only one that eats it), so I get a large, drown it in "butter", then refill it after the movie, and have leftover popcorn the rest of the week (store in baggies or Gladware so it doesn't go stale...). So this weekend, DH and I saw the James Bond movie, and I got my usual. But it tasted blah to me. I tried eating the leftovers yesterday, and it still tasted blah. plus i usually LOVE ranch dressing/dip on EVERYTHING i can, french fries, burgers, hot dogs, you name it (within reason). I had some last week, and it TURNED MY STOMACH! wth is going on????? i started using ketchup, and DH thought I was loosing my mind. he asked if i was feeling ok. anyone else getting food aversions to stuff they LOVE???

These pants recommendations are great! My body is so weird, one minute I feel like I have totally 'popped' but then the next my body seems fine and pretty much 'normal'. I can't figure it out! I am still actually in regular pants but my 'fat' regular pants, there are definitely some at this point that I won't even attempt to put on!

By the way, we got our NT blood test results, that combined with the u/s brought the baby's Down's risk all the way down to 1 in 5401! Yippie! Looks like we will be able to skip having to decide whether or not we want any of the more invasive tests. So glad to be past that hurdle!

That's about it here except for this neck mass thing I am dealing with - which I won't go and on about here since I posted at length about it in P&PTs. Hopefully we'll be past this hurdle very soon as well!

Hey Ladies--

Debb--did you know that it’s not unusual for us “fluffy girls” to outgrow our clothes sooner than our thin counterparts? Yep! When your uterus is expanding it needs to find a place to go, and since skinny girls don’t have anything in the way compared to the rest of us, it helps us outgrow our clothes sooner. With the exception of my pg with Caiti, I’ve always been in mat pants by week 9 or so. With the twins it was sooner because there was a bit more growing in there, lol…I also use Ranch dressing on everything! When I was pg with Caiti my food aversion was green grapes. I loved them, but just could not eat them when pg with her! And my other “phobia” was public bathrooms! I’d get the dry heaves anytime I had to use a public restroom! The worst part was I was working for a chain of hardware stores here in So CA and the only restroom was downstairs in the store. Considering it was a hardware store, we didn’t have a lot of women outside of employees using it, but it still got to me, even after I saw the cleaning crew leave! Funny thing is, I’ve been feeling queasy when I go into them now, so I wonder if I’m having another girl…

Vandana--Can’t believe it’s already time for you to go to 2T! Congratulations!

Lori--You’re right, protein is good for m/s, from what I’ve heard. In my early weeks my breakfasts consist of a protein or a Slim Fast shake because sometimes it’s all I can handle. I still eat later in the day, but I’ve never been a big breakfast eater to begin with.

Michelle--you continue to be in my thoughts! I’m glad to hear your wonderful test results!

As for me, I’m feeling better overall, but have a nagging cough that just won’t go away or give me a moment’s rest. I’ve been taking Robitussin for the cough, and it just sucks that it wears off and I can’t sleep! My boobs continue to get bigger and I always chuckle when my nipples become the size of dinner plates like they did the other day, lol. My pants so far still fitting, but a bit “snugger” than usual. They’re low rise anyway, so I’m starting to make note of where Siobhan keeps her hair elastics so they’re ready to go when I need to stop using the button on my pants! The fatigue is still here, too. I took Caiti for a haircut yesterday and then went to the grocery store, came home and put everything away and promptly fell asleep on the couch! I was beat!

Hugs to all!

Kathy

Hi ladies!
Today has been one of those super annoying days at work where I can't seem to make anyone happy and it's not even my fault! Hate those days.
How is everyone?
Michelle - I totally agree about the not being able to figure out if I look at all pg or not. Some days I wake up and DH even agrees I have a baby belly starting to show (not to your average observer of course, but to he and I at least). Then other days (like today!) I swear I can't tell the difference at all. Oh well, probably just gas and bloating! :-)
My cousin who is just about my size is sending me a bag of maternity clothes today. I'm so excited, she says there's a few pairs of jeans, some black pants and quite a few shirts and dresses! Yayyy!!!! I am feeling so huge already because the only maternity pants that fit right in the legs and hips are the L and XL ones! I'm normally a size 14 or so pre-pregnancy. I don't know what I"ll do once my belly gets too big to fit in those - maybe they'll work throughout the whole pregnancy? I don't know...I've never done this before.
Kathy - your green grape mention has me seriously craving grapes right now! And so far fruit and veggies have not been on the top of my craving list. I normally love salads (I used to have them probably three days a week for lunch) and now the thought of salad makes me want to gag. I'm fine with plain vegetables, its just the lettuce that is really getting to me.
This weekend I HAD to have sauerkraut though. DH went to the store and bought stuff to make reubens. Then I barfed and gagged the whole time he was making them because the corn beef smelled so strong. It was straight out of a comedy movie - he was so angry with me. I did end up eating it, and it stayed down, it was just the smell that didn't agree with me :-)
Kathy, also have I mentioned what a great addition you are to this board! :-) I am so happy you are here with me.
I am really excited for Tara's c-section this week. Can't wait for pics of little Drew!
What else - this is getting really long and I have lots more to say but I'll save it for now :-)
Hope you all are having a fantastic day!
Hugs,
Amanda

Katie, I read an interesting article online that said its not uncommon for women with morning sickness to have aversions to fruit and especially veggies. Apparently fruit and veggies have a natural substance in them that acts as nature's very own pesticide, with veggies having double the amount that fruit has. The pregnant woman's oversensitive "poisoning" response kicks in and assumes the substance is going to harm the baby (though its truly in such small amounts you'd have to eat veggies nonstop all day long to even come close to any amount that would even register to the baby). But your body's poison response convinces your mind that if you get really sick after eating veggies, or have an aversion to them you obviously won't eat them again, thus "saving" the baby from being poisoned. Now keep in mind this article wasn't from any credible source like a hospital or anything - it was just some person's website. Still interesting though! It kind of makes sense I guess.

And, congrats on your first trimester screening results! Those were awesome numbers.

Debb, congrats to you too! I agree with Katie, your numbers were humorously low!

I have been feeling a LOT of ligament stretching/pulling today! I'm starting week 11, so I guess it makes sense...QM will gain almost a full inch in the next week! Yay, grow baby grow!

DH is suddenly all gung-ho about finding out the sex "as soon as we possibly can". Funny coming from the guy that wouldn't even acknowledge we were having a baby until recently. So I'm going to get one of those 3D usounds as my belated XMas present this year. They'll do it at 17 wks, so that puts me at the second or third week of Jan I think. That's not that far away at all!!!

I have to go up to school to meet up with my study group for one of my final exams this week, after work. Blah. No fun for Amanda today!

Anyone else have any exciting plans?

Amanda

Hi ladies!!!! This is my first week chat! I just read all 9 and I am going to try to remember everything!

Debb- I also have a very short torso! I can fit 3 fingers between my ribs and hips. I also have baggage in my thighs (sorry TMI). I think I am all around just funny looking.

Vandana- I'm so excited that you get to go down to the 2T I will be joining you there on Saturday I think.

Kathy- My DH keeps making comments about my dinner plates. He thinks it is very interesting.

Amanda- I have never tried sauerkraut but I'm not sure now would be the time for me to do that. But I'm glad you were able to keep it down.

Michelle- I'm so happy your test went so well, congratulations!!!

Lori- That icecream sounds so good! And good thinking on the protein! WTG! I think I might have to drag dh out to get icecream tonight!

I'm so sorry if I left anything out. I have been addicted to popsicle! Yummm!!! I was having a really hard time eating any meat, but I think I am past that for the most part. I never was a really big meat eater, so it's not such a bad thing. We decorated our tree on Saturday and it looks so good! The pictures I took of it, just don't do it justice! We decorated it with blue and silver. Our house still has the slightest smell of skunk from last Wednesdays skunking! I bought one pair of Maternity jeans from Old Navy. I got the real waist jeans, so they have the stretchy back panel and a tie inside. I love them, but I have been pulling them up all day. I was a loose size 16 (probably should have been wearing 14, but chose a 16 because of my thighs) before pg, so the waist of my new jeans are a little big, there is no stretching! So I found out that my DH's cousin and wife are having a baby June 17th, Aunt is due July 3rd, and a friend of mine is due in July or August, and my brothers gf's sister is due June 20th! It is such a crazy baby boom around here! I love it! I hope everyone has a great week!
