Debb-- I am SO with you....I can't sleep the whole night either!! If I am not waking up to drink something or to go to the bathroom, I am having really CRAZY dreams... For example---I hope some of you out there are country music fans!!! I LOVE Kenny Chesney---the other night I had a dream that I won some silly contest and I got to tour with him and in the end--He asked me to marry him!!!! LOL LOL No joke!! Maybe we should form a middle of the night chat for all of us insomniacs!!! Love, Lori
Hi ladies, Too many posts to go person by person so I'll do stream of consciousness here - and I'll try as hard as I can to hit everyone. Kathy and Debb - I am so sorry about the sad milestones coming up for both of you. It's so frustrating to have to deal with that around the holidays. My DH's mother died on Easter when he was a teenager, and the holidays are always hard for us because of that. Even Xmas is hard on him b/c she used to go gungho decorating, and after she passed his dad didn't decorate at all, not even a xmas tree. So it is tough for him to see the xmas tree and all. And then Easter obviously, and the actual date anniversary are usually within weeks of each other (since the date of Easter changes every year). Anyways, I'm sending big hugs to both of you, let us know if you need any happy thoughts over the next weeks. Lori - I'm so glad you mentioned the dreams - I actually look forward to going to bed for the dreams, they're better than the movies. I luckily haven't had any nightmares yet, only happy dreams. Jenn - thanks for visiting us!!! I'm so glad you're co-cl, you're perfect for it. Oh goodness, who else posted...I should open another window. Julie - I hope you feel better soon!!! Maureen - I had that "nothign sounds good" problem for a few weeks - don't worry it will cure itself very soon. Now I feel like I can eat like a horse all day long and never get full. :-) I've had to make a serious effort to watch how much I'm eating or I'll look like a horse by the time I'm done with this 9 months! I hope I didn't miss anyone :-) Ciao for now ladies, I have an exciting night of studying for my last final ahead of me. Then I'm done with school for a whole four weeks!!! Who would have ever thought that it would feel like a vacation to just have to work all week :-) Hugs, Amanda
Here we go again. Terror is kicking in. Am I really ready for this? Can I do this? Now it's not just being nervous about having a newborn to take care of, but of the actual birth itself! Whether it is a natural or a c-section, the thought of all that pain terrifies me. the m/c hurt like crazy, and there was nothing to pass (well, no baby anyway). anyone else alternating between being excited and happy, and scared to pieces? please tell me it's not just me!!!
Debb, I understand what you mean, and I think its totally normal. This is scary - no doubt about it. There are times when I wonder if I really did the right thing getting pg - maybe I'm not ready for this, maybe DH and I should have waited until I'm done with school,or have more money or got a bigger house or ....the list goes on. And then I start thinking about how am I going to take care of a baby? I don't know the first thing about babies, well babysitting but thats it. And what happens if DH doesn't like the baby? He's sort of impatient and I don't know how he'll deal with a constantly crying baby. So yes, I'm scared too :-) I don't have any helpful advice except that I know I've gotten through everything life's dealt me so far, so I can only assume I'll figure this all out when the time is right. One step at a time :-) Big hugs, Amanda
Hey Debb-- It's me again...I saw your chat about the pain of birth...and I can honestly tell you that I was in the same spot before having my DS. I was SCARED TO DEATH. However, I don't know how you feel about an epidural...but I can tell you that once I got that epidural, it was SMOOTH sailing. I would never try to push my opinions on anyone--however, I would encourage anyone that is worried about their pain thresh-hold to strongly consider this miraculous invention!! LOL LOL I went into true labor at 3AM...was at the hospital by 5AM...only dilated like 3CM, but heavy contractions. They broke my water at 8AM, IMMEDIATELY asked for the epidural (which didn't hurt at ALL compared to the cramping of the contractions!) and had my baby at 5PM. Between the epidural at 8:15 AM and 5 PM, I literally layed there and napped and had visitors and was TOTALLY comfortable. Pushing was not bad either!! You will be fine---at that point, you will be so excited to meet your little one, you will be so focused on that--you will hardly notice the pain!! I hope that eases your mind a little!! Love, Lori
Debb--You’re going to be fine. You have a bit of time ahead of you. Are you going to take classes? It can help if you sort of know what to expect. But I will tell you that if it really were a horrible thing, the human race would have died out a long time ago! And I have one piece of advice (aside from stop worrying about it) EPIDURAL. Trust me! ;)
